Found: One small copperhead
« on: September 30, 2009, 10:10:20 PM »
About 1' 2" long.  Grey & brown in color.  At one time he was a copperhead but he no longer has a head so now he's just a copper, or so my daughter says.  Looking for his bro & sis.  Cooler temps have them hanging out on front door steps where the concrete is retaining heat.  No reward necessary.  You can have him.

I think we just beheaded his parents a few weeks ago in our backyard.  There appeared to be a little "brown chicken brown cow" going on and my dog interrupted...

I have an awesome dog.  ;)

We are both in The Falls.  We have killed at least 10 copperheads in the last 2 summers but no one has been bitten.  The big one we killed a couple of weeks ago did strike at my dog but thankfully didn't make contact...

Been here 5 years and this was officially our first.  The neighbors across the street have had snakes because they are on the creek lots.  One got bit by a copperhead while trying to be a PETA pleaser and tranplant the snake.  Another came knocking and said they had a snake in their driveway.  It was a little watermocassin.  He suffered the same fate as the one in this picture.

I have found a shovel to be pretty darn effective.  Of course, I must be wearing my thick pink fuzzy boots as I use the shovel for fear that I will miss and the little bugger will bite my toe.  :P

So, my husband and I just put a bid on a house in Anna.  I have since been reading through this forum and learning about the snake problem throughout the various neighborhoods.  While this doesn't really deter us from moving to Anna, (especially since my husband already works there!) I am a total city girl and the idea of snakes freaks me out!! Even the idea of having to kill one at some point makes me sick to my stomach!! I am futher concerned for my little 10 month old daughter who will be wanting to play in her new back yard very soon!! So, I have been searching for options to *hopefully* prevent a snake encounter before it happens.

I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this product found at http://www.stop-snakes.com/ and if it works.  It is called the Sentinel Solar Electronic Snake Repeller and is supposed to scare away snakes by emitting a pulsing vibration.  If it works, great, but I am concerned about either being scammed or lulled into a false sense of security.  Please let me know what you all think!!

Thanks!

I've been here 2.5 years and haven't seen a snake yet.
