HELP! We found 5 baby birds in our Hallway

They were upstairs, under the air intake vent in our hall.  I have no earthly idea how they got there, but these little guys need to go.  They look like they couldn't be more than a day or two old, so I realize that their chance of survival is slim, but does anyone know of a local rehab facility?  I have found a few online and have called, but I am still waiting for a response.

Any ideas (besides the morbid ones) would be greatly appreciated.

we found a wounded little duck and took it to the feed store near downtown Mckinney. They sell chicks and things and offered to help us out. Not sure about plain-jane, run of the mill, throw a stone and hit one, birdies.

Yeah, the poor lowly sparrows were not given much love by anyone who takes in wildlife (before anyone bashes me, I know those people are awesome and can only take on so much). 

So off to Petsmart we went and got some baby bird food.  Three of the five are eating rather nicely, but I had no idea that baby birds smaller than a quarter could poop so much.  Ewwwww.

Oh, I am not taking care of them, my 9 year old is.  I figure it is a good home school lesson, as well as birth control.  Hopefully he remembers how demanding they were when he decides that sex is a good idea (which will hopefully be about 10 years from now)!

hahaha, nice.

My 4 yr old likes to play with bugs. he brought me one while we were outside and i couldn't tell what it was. he said it was a ladybug. i started to question him since there were no red/black wings but before i could he told me he pulled the wings off.

"Son, don't you start being cruel to animals. We take care of them."

"Oh, ok then. have fun."

So, my youngest two boys are 19 months apart and bugs are a big deal around here.  The 6 year old calls them "bug friends" and the 4 year old stomps on them. 

Thing 1- "Look Momma, a bug friend!"
Thing 2- (CRUNCH)
Thing 1- "Mom!  He just crushed my bug friend!" (Said through serious pissed off tears!)

Lots of tears over this I tell ya.

You could try the Heard museum in McKinney. They do wildlife rehab.
