swine flu in anna
« on: September 19, 2009, 12:19:32 PM »
I was looking at the Annia ISD website, yes it is still underconstruction, but under district news it states that there is an Anna middle school and a Rattan Elem. student confirmed to have swine flu. Parents of children at these schools need to keep a watchful eye on their kids for symptoms. I am going to by individual hand santizers for my kids.

I'm just wondering if I am the only parent that is disturbed by the school not notifying parents of the 2 confirmed cases of swine flu. In the past if someone had head lice, chicken pox, ect the parents have always been notified. I would think the swine flu is way more serious than chicken pox or head lice.  Why is the school not notifying parents? Are we allowed to keep our child out of school? I am looking for answers and I am very scared for my child to attend school. I am just asking he school district to PLEASE let us know what is going on. Don't leave us parents out here to assume and hear all the rumors floating around from our children. Yes this is a flu and people get the flu all the time...BUT this is not JUST THE FLU.This is the swine flue. Children are dying from this. Please Anna School District give us some information and answers.

THERE ARE NO CONFIRMED CASES OF THE SWINE FLU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anna ISD has two confirmed cases of type A influenza.
According to the Collin County Health Department, most cases of type A influenza are the H1N1 strain

The test for the swine flu has not come back yet, therefore it has not been confirmed that it is indeed swine flu!!!!! Type A can be confirmed right away but it takes a few days to confirm swine flu.  I am sure if the test comes back positive a note would be sent home.  Please lets not jump to conclusions.  Take precautions, wash your hands, and keep sick kids home.  And remember they must be fever free for 24 hours before you send them back to school.

The real test is pretty simple - if you look like this in the morning, stay home:

Anybody remember how scarey the avian flu was almost 30 years ago?  People dying, mostly the old and very young, even some with compromised immunity.  Don't hear much about that anymore.

The school didn't inform the parents that swine flu was going around in the schools?

Well, will the school be informing the parents as to when the kids will be getting the swine flu vaccinations at school?  Preferably, before the kids get them?

Unless someone is in the hospital or dies from flu symptoms they are not testing for swine flu just type a and type b.  Most forms of i think its type a are swine flu and its all over not just in anna.

The first one of my kids, 6yr old, to get sick saw the doctor.  Doc tested for flu (it was the flu) and said that pretty much everybody that has gotten the flu in North Texas has gotten H1N1.  I have two home sick now.  The 6yr old is breezing right through it.  The 8yr old is one sick little kid.  He's on his 3rd day of 104 and has had some difficulty breathing.   His case has really scared me at times.  We were given no Tamiflu...only Tylenol/Motrin and a night time cough syrup.  But it looks like they are getting better.  Hope my third kiddo doesn't get it that bad.  Tired from lack of sleep, tired of feeling tense and worried, and I'm tired of having three kids cooped up at home.  If we come down with the regular flu next....
