Chiropratic referral
« on: May 19, 2008, 04:12:59 PM »
I seem to have some bone crunching in my neck and shoulders, which I'm guessing falls under the whole "bad thing" column.
Can anyone recommend a chiropractor? I've never been to one, so also am wondering what to expect.

Thanks.

I go to Dr. Roe as well.  He's great.  He explains everything to you.  I've been going to a chiropractor off and on for probably 10 years now.  Guess you could call me a "crack" addict!

HA!
That is one thing that I am afraid of. Once I start going, I'll have to go for the rest of my life. My mom and dad have been going for as long as I can remember, and for awhile, mom was going every week. But then again, she can be a bit of a hypochondriac.  ;D

I went to one in our old town that never let me go more than a week without coming in, usually 2-3 times a week.  It was insane.

So when we moved up here I put off going for a long time until I was in severe pain.  I went to Dr Cameron (he used to be in the building Dr Roe is in now).  He is on McKinney Ranch at Lake Forrest now, so it would be convenient for you to go after work Angi.  Anyway, I went 5 visits total, that was last summer and I haven't been back.  I am starting to feel like I might be able to benefit again but I can tell you he had a totally different approach than the Chiro that I used to use.  Whoever you decide on, you may want to ask them at the first visit how many time they think you will need to come because he told me 4-6 at the first visit and he was spot on.

I feel like I was taken to the cleaners before...

I go to Dr Cameron, too. I actually saw him for the first time about 4 years ago. And he popped DH's should back into socket, too. He's awesome!
Ask me how I can help you feel your best.

How much does this sort of thing typically cost?

I'm assuming insurance is a no-go, yeah?

Do you deal with Aetna?

We have Aetna, but depending on the plan --- you may have a high chiropractic deductible. Just call them. They'd rather pay for chiro now than back surgery later!

I have had Aetna, United and BCBS.  They were all PPO's and they all covered it, either under the deductible or the specialist visit.  Each visit typically costs about $50 before insurance.

Weird. Dr. Roe's first name is Cameron. :)

Anyway, I don't really care how much it costs right now, though I do believe it is covered. I just want to the crunching to stop and be able to sleep comfortably again.
