Horizon Cleaners
« on: April 29, 2011, 02:07:30 AM »
DO NOT USE HORIZON CLEANERS! They ruined my daughters Prom dress and refuse to pay for it! The owner is based out of Plano and  is rude and hateful! When he ruins your clothes, he says, "That is the chance you take when bringing your clothes to the dry cleaners! He totally runied the dress and claims he did nothing wrong! What ever chemical he used put dark spots all over my daughters dress, faded all the sequins and all the rhinestones mysteriously disappeared! I first confronted the lady who works at the store and chewed her out! I felt bad afterwards, but then drove to Plano to confront him. He wanted to see the dress, so when I took it he claimed the the chemical that was all over the dress, was there when I brought the dress into the cleaners! WRONG! His workers both said that this was not true and that those spots appeared after he cleaned it! Needless to say I have made two trips to Plano and he refuses to do anything to repair the damage he caused. According to his worker, they have had many mistakes and she is having to call him daily. So obviously this man does not care about his customers, he just wants to take your money and ruin your clothes! I took a picture to him of the dress before he cleaned it, so he could try and fix the rhinestones and he did not follow the picture at all. He scattered  rhinestones all over the dress and ruined it even more. I started yelling and screaming at him and asked him why he did that and he claimed it looked just like the picture! Are you freaking kidding me? What picture was he looking at? I told him he was an idiot and I would see him in court. Come to find out, today he told his people that from now on people must sign vouchers so he will not be responsible. Hmmm.... I didn't sign a voucher, so he is responsible! Not according to him! He said he would do nothing to pay for the dress.

Needless to say! I had to buy another prom dress! So, be aware that if you use Horizon Cleaners in Anna or Dy Clean City Super Center in Plano, the owner does not take responsibility for his mistakes!

I had the same experience there two years ago with a dress I borrowed from a friend.  Luckily mine was just the rhinestones, but he also tried to pass it off and I had to replace all of the rhinestones myself.  Not to mention I finally got the dress out of him three days after it was supposed to be ready so I had to wear something completely different to the event. :'(

I've used them for slacks and shirts, and had no problems at all. Maybe they don't have the experience to do fancy stuff like prom dresses???
The lady I've always dealt with at Anna is very nice. I hate the fact that you got burned on the prom dress, but to scream at her is just wrong. I worked in retail for a few years after I retired from the rat race and I got yelled at for stuff I had no control over. Some people feel the need to vent on the closest human they can get at, which is always the clerk. It's NOT THEIR FAULT! And, if they're not empowered, which they usually aren't, THEY CAN'T DO A FRICKIN' THING ABOUT IT!
Diamond, you need to get some counseling on anger management. Geez.

I took some shirts there a few years back to just be pressed. I was told that it would be two days to get them back. When I went to get them two days later they still were not back. It confuses me that they send them out in the first place. It took a total of five dyas to get my shirts back. Needless to say I haven't been back.

Diamond,

It would be great if you were to post before and after pics here on the forum so we could see for ourselves what you are talking about.

The point I'm making is that the front line clerk, whether it be a store or fast food restaurant or anything, should not be the target of rage. You can tell him/her of your dissatisfaction, but to yell is not acceptable. They have a sh*t job, with minimum wage, maybe underemployed because of a layoff, just trying to get by, and to have to deal with a customer who thinks he/she "owns" you is bullsh*t. I make it a point, as does my wife, to try to say nice things to the clerks we deal with at Brookshires, Walmart, KFC, etc. I had a 6 figure job in the 90's when that you made a bucket load of money. Then it all went away eventually due to the economy, and now I'm too old to get another job. But I still remember my roots, as lower class in the 60's, caddying at an exclusive club in Chicago, then having a great career after college, then getting laid off from Citi and not being able to find squat since 2002. Then I tried car sales at Carmax and I walked away after being verbally abused by a customer who thought she could just do that. I worked for a friend who owned a golf store and walked away after I got verbally abused by a customer. OK, thin skin. It's so wrong and misguided when a customer abuses a clerk. Diamond, you have a beef, but you were wrong to abuse the woman at Horizon. And no, I'm not a shill for Horizon.

ggolf95 Just so you know, I did apologize to the lady at the cleaners and we are fine, infact we had a few laughs yesterday. She completely understands my anger, and no it was not towards her once I realized that she sent the dress out. She completely understood, and I apologized again to her and again we laughed. Yes, they are very under paid and I feel for her for having to work for a man that takes no responsibility for his mistakes. It seems they all take the heat when he is the one ultimately responsible. She apologized up and down yesterday and she herself said that he is in the wrong and that yes spots came back all over the dress. She is a very friendly woman and if I had a job to offer her I would in a heart beat! I feel for her that she works for this man! So, no hard feelings between me and the woman working there. She is doing everything she can to make me happy. Unfortunately they do not do the cleaning on site, they send it out to the owners super store and apparently there have been a lot of unhappy customers lately! So, If she were the one doing the cleaning, I would definately go back, because customer service is very important to her, but it is not to her boss. She said that you are supposed to keep your customers happy and has discussed this with him and apparently he does not care and is running a lot of customers off, which is not good for her. So bottom line is, I will not take any article of clothing back there because the owner is the one doing the cleaning and he takes no responsibility for ruining clothes. I have heard form many others who are no longer using this facility for this very reason. I too have been in the retail business and I too know how it feels to be yelled at by a customer, so that is why I was so fast to apologize to her. I was an angry mother with no prom dress for my daughter this Saturday. So, I am not this mean awful person you are trying to make me out to be.

Noted, Diamond.

My point is that regardless of the circumstances, DON'T BEAT THE SH*T OUTTA THE CLERK.

My wife and I try to make their day a little bit more pleasant. Say "good morning" "it's nice outside" etc. Engage them a tiny bit, they probably will love it. I cannot tell you the number of times we've struck up a conversation, even at the most low level, and they perk up. It helps them through their mundane time. And you know what? It feels good to make another person feel good.

I just was at the Brookshires and got gas (geez a top off was $17) and I bought a bottle of water since I was about to walk the park. I talked to the attendant about how windy it was. I said "thank you sir" when he gave me my change. A little tiny thing, but thank you and you're welcome are things we've lost in this sh*t hole of America we've become.

Sorry drax, I wasn't in paragraph mode! LOL!

ggolf95 I totally agree with you! I went into Horizon today and saw my friend and she gave me a hug! LOL! We are fine! As far as the owner in Plano goes though, I might have to jump over the counter and beat the you know what outta him! LOL! You want to help? LOL! He does not care about his customers or his employees! Very bad way to run a business in a small city!

Well gotta get some shut eye! You guys have a good night!

Prom is tomorrow, so big day tomorrow!

If anyone needs cleaners, try K cleaners at Bethany and 75.   They do it in house, great folks.

only negative is that you have to drive through the hell that is McKinney construction on 75 to get there. Is it me or is it getting worse?
