Anna Fall Softball League
« on: September 10, 2010, 11:49:48 AM »
So the city is trying to put a fall softball league together - so far, there are aren't enough teams registered to make a playable schedule.

Despite the fact that the listed deadline has passed, the city is still accepting team registrations.

The team I was going to play on didn't have enough people to field a proper team, but there were/are almost a full team ready to go.

I had hella fun playing in the summer, and one way or another, I just wanna play softball.

I'd be sorely disappointed if the league was cancelled due to lack of interest, so if you have even the slightest inclination to play, let's do it.  If you know of someone who might be interested, let them know.

Players and teams don't necessarily need to be from Anna - in the last season, we had whole ready-made teams from Allen and McKinney, so feel free to pass this along to people outside the immediate area.

You don't even have to be any good in order to have a great time and get some exercise. Our team didn't win a game last season and I'm anxious to get back out there and do it again.  I tell you what, running bases and chasing down fly balls beats the hell out of staring at the wall in front of the treadmill.

Agreed - softball is fun.  I'm up for it.

You can count ~j and I in if we can get a few more people together.  Drax- Maybe we should look at finding a second sponsor, one to pay the registration fee?  We had several that wanted to play, they just couldn't swing the $35 right now...

I have been playing in Mckinney last couple of season's,  but live in Anna.  So after hearing that this season "fall" that they had a MEN'S LEAGUE I was ready & so was team since we are from Anna & Blue Ridge.  That was until I learned that they had it two nights a week tues & thurs.  Don't get me wrong I love to play,  but have other players that have children playing football this time a year and practice's really interfere with a two night a week game.  If they only had a one night a week would make it easier this time of year "football season".

the way i understood that it works is that your team is assigned to either teus OR thurs so that you only play one night per week

Well that would make sense,  if when I  emailed the WOMEN in charge last week would have told me that.  So the deadline was on a holiday, and they were closed that weekend.  So I asked her how to submitt my team form since the deadline was on a holiday and what day of the week it would be on!  She emailed me back with her address and to leave it in her mailbox, uh no thankyou. She told me that SHE THINKS it is on tues and thurs.  Way to unorganized for me.  Was looking forward to local ball without having to deal with Mckinney's always flooding fields.

I recommend contacting Mr. Schwanke.

Mr Neighbors, Anna closes their fields if someone spits on them. they do not flood even in monsoons but they will close them with the quickness.

I just recieved word (not from Swankey) that the fall league has been cancealed.  He will not awnser his phone or return calls to confirm or deny.  We were told we were to begin playing ball in the first week in Sept.  We have a sponcer that has already bought our shirts and balls.  Mr.Swankey,  you either let us play ball or cough up the money we were all out on shirts and balls as well as the 350.00.  Awnser your phone calls once in a while as well. >:(

I probably wouldn't respond to people who couldn't spell my name either - I'd assume that they were addressing someone else.

Right, as if you'd really do that if a legitimate contest you entered and won, and your part was $50 million after taxes but they couldn't read your handwritten entry or had lost your online record: "We're trying to locate a Mr. Hassel from Anna, TX."

Sure you would.

Shut up.

Maybe we should try to make Ultimate Fighting happen instead of softball! ;D
