Area Craft Fairs??
« on: April 10, 2008, 03:16:22 PM »
Does anyone know of any area craft fairs this fall?  I'd like to check into being a vendor, but am not familiar enough with this area to know where they are.

I know a puppeteer who used to work these parts.  I'll ask him.

I know that McKinney has something going on every other weekend off of 380, but not sure of the details - I'll put on my "Rockford" hat and do some investigative work

This is a good one held twice a year:  http://www.cottonwoodartfestival.com/ArtistInformation.htm

And also Google for Mckinney Jass ( I keep correcting the spelling on that and it keeps going back to the ss instead of the zz?  ::))  and Wine fest and also the McKinney Crank off July 4th festival - both in Mckinney Square.

You'd probably sell more at Cottonwood though.

We've not been but it sounds like fun...

Ok, that's funny.

At one point people were using the term 'azz' to replace another word.  I figured there might have been some confusion on how to spell the word they intended, so I told the forum to help them out. :)

You may want to check with the McKinney Chamber of Commerce.  They may have a list of places.  Call St. Gabriels Catholic Church on Virginia, they have one every fall, and things must be home made.

You could always try the Star Spangled 4th In Garland. Thousands of people come out for this event.

Thanks for the info.  I'll check it out.  I don't want to do the McKinney  Third Monday Trade days.  I'm only wanting to hit 3-4 smaller ones in the fall.  The ones at churches would probably best fit my product.  I'm still working out the kinks at this point, so don't want to throw it out there in case it fizzles.

Try this calendar and look around. There are farmers markets and lots of other things that happen on a regular basis ... as well as events.

McKinney downtown doesn't have craft vendors during the Crankoff or during Scare on the Square. I think the only thing you'll find with them is the Spring Festival which I believe is named something else now. (I have played numerous times for them with my band). The 380 show is 3rd Mondays. That would be a good place to be although I think the rental spaces are pricey. Howe ISD has a show in September at the high school. You should contact them. They're cheap and have lots of local traffic. The Cottonwood arts festival is a juried show and the art is very high end. I don't know what you do but it's really not crafts. It's fine art i.e. oils, watercolour, sculpture, photography. Hope this helps!

The Howe ISD one would be what I'm looking for.  Do you have any contact info for that?
