Abuse of Power Mr. Mayor?
« on: October 08, 2010, 03:30:45 PM »
Now that you have used your position to become a fire man, what will you do next?
You knew and were advised that it would be a conflict of interest. Now you have brought
SHAME to this town that you profess to love so well! You are now following the foot-steps
of the last person you replaced! SHAME, SHAME, SHAME!

I'm not understanding this. Is there an issue with someone ( even the mayor ) becoming a firefighter ? I am assuming it is a volunteer firefighter. I grew up in a another small town and our mayor served as well. Where is the conflict ?

yea, i don't get the issue either.  he volunteers his time for the city as mayor and as a fireman.  sounds like he is doing a lot to be an active and contributing member of this community.

It is the underhanded ways and some of the other stuff he is up to, that I object to. While volunteering is admirable, the motive and the way it was facilitated IMHO is wrong!

If you're going to make such strong accusations, please back them up with some facts.
Otherwise you sound like a raving lunatic.  Are you Livia's little brother?

http://www.annatexasforum.com/index.php/topic,4345.0.html For starters. Plus read through some of the posts here.
Then get up off you butts and start talking to some of your neighbors and just maybe you might have a sour taste in your mouths.

I guess I'm slow because besides his "stealing" a volunteer spot (question-- if it doesn't pay anything, is it really stealing?), and wanting to only drive the truck, I'm not seeing anything nefarious here. As far as talking to my neighbors, the 3 Mexican families in one small house across the street don't speak English and I couldn't get past all their junk cars in the driveway and street anyway. The young couple across the street ignored me when I called out Hello, twice. A week later I saw them drive into their garage and went over to ring their bell. They wouldn't answer. The guy next to me is starting a junk yard behind his house, including 2 vicious junk yard dogs. The couple on the other side of me, oops, that's one of the 780 vacant weed-strewn lots here in beautiful, friendly Oak Hollow.

If you think the mayor is bad, never, never move to Chicago. Your head would explode. While you're at it, don't move to Boston, Hartford, D.C., Philly, etc.

So looking at your other post, it's identical except for you raving about the council supposedly voting themselves pay and health benefits at the city's expense.   Now I talk to my neighbors and others all the time and haven't heard any of these rumors anywhere except from you.

So please, lets see some citation other than one of your other posts.  Has it been on a proposed budget or as a discussion item on a meeting agenda?

If you dont like something do something about it and stop the BS accusations because you obviously cant back them up.

When does a Volunteer Fire Dept. have "Volunteer Spots" ? Last I heard a Volunteer Organization can never have too many people. We need all the "free" help we can get.

It was my understanding the Chief told our "illustrious one" that there were no openings. Now he's on and the Chief's job is payed. COOL! There have been some dealings that might be conflicts of interest. I guess ya'll love him so back him up to the hilt!

Not really, just looking for some concrete examples rather than inane rants.

Paid.  Not payed.  How can we expect the mayor to respond to blanket accusations if you use blank it accusations?
