Anna, Texas - THE MASTER PLAN
« on: September 11, 2009, 11:53:38 AM »
Over the past year and a half since we moved here, we have seen growth (both residential and commercial), seen plans for growth, and heard of rumors of growth. In my searches for info, I've gotten most of it here on the Anna Forum, both rumor and actual plans in action (case in point: our new Taco Bell). I also ran across an infrastructure map with proposed roadway expansion but that sucker is OLD. Does anyone know of any resources or places where we can find plans/proposals/artwork/maps of new businesses and expansion projects for Anna? How about if we had a website that served as an online repository of plans and projects for Anna's growth including everything from ideas and proposals to projects already underway. Not only does that keep the general public informed of what is going on in our fair town, it also helps generate interest...even some excitement...over the prospects of planned growth in our little corner of the world.

The City of Anna has an ideal mechanism in place in which to get ALL THE INFORMATION ABOUT THE FUTURE OF ANNA YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW, and I will share that secret with you now.  Its called:  City Council Meetings.

I learn something every time I attend a City Council meeting.  Also - they're cumulative.  The more you attend, the more you know.  Its never the same thing twice.  It sounds like you'd be SHOCKED and AMAZED at how much you'd learn about the future of Anna attending City Council meetings.

Its here, its in place, and its ongoing.  Its not magic, but its the next best thing.

All you have to do is show up and listen ;)

I would love to have a place to see future growth, maps, etc. Recently went to a Planning and Zoning meeting and while there found out that the street over from mine is scheduled to be a 6-lane street in the future. Which means more than likely my house will get wiped out. Wasn't thrilled about that scenario.

What happens in a situation like this? I always wondered. Are you just out of luck? do they pay you a reasonable amount, of course that doesnt always help if you dont want to leave somewhere you have been all your life. I hate that growth means victims  ???
I drive around all of the time, see houses and think "that wont be here much longer" You can kind of just tell where roads are bound to turn up. Just wonder what happens to the people?

Usually when Eminent domain is invoked, the property is bought at the value stated on the tax rolls.

That is an absolute shame that website no longer exists! Someone had told me they saw an artist rendering of the new high school, which was very impressive, as well as a concept drawing for a new city hall/town square. Now this came as a total shock to me because at the time, I had to be informed by this person that the cranes working north of West Crossing are in fact the high school (this was around half a year ago). Has anyone seen anything like this? I know the high school is becoming reality. Has anyone ever heard of a plan or at least ideas floating around for a new city hall/town square?

I don't know how I can state this any differently, or any more emphatically:

IF YOU ATTEND THE CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS you will hear all the discussion on all of these topics.  There's speakers, and presentations, and visual-aids and numbers and everything else you ever wanted to know about.

What seems to be the misunderstanding here?  That website didn't have the detailed information you get from City Council meetings.

City Council meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. for Work Session and 7:30 p.m. for Regular Session at the City Hall Administration Building 111 N. Powell Pkwy, Anna, Texas.

Basically, the public portion begins at 1930 in the Annex.
