As the economy remains slow, do you believe our city officials are using this time to plan properly for future explosive growth ? Is the council we have at this time too "old school" and not experienced enough. Do you believe that the city and the planning and zoning board are ready to "keep order" instead of the developers having to much input ? What are your opinions ?

Yes.  Otherwise, they would not have received my vote.  I don't know what motivates others to vote, but mine was cast to prepare for this eventuality.

Is the council we have at this time too "old school" and not experienced enough.

What does this even mean?  In conjunction with the first question, voting in new council members during a slower time gives them the experience they will require when the time comes.  With half our council are "old school" and the other half gaining experience it sounds like the *perfect* recipe for success.  Your question seemingly invalidates itself.

Perhaps my wording could have been better. What I am trying to ask is , do you believe there is too much influence from "old school" officials, meaning that the old and the new won't agree enough to get things done right. You mentioned half the council was new, I did not realize it was an even split on old and new.

Absolutely, do you have reason to believe otherwise?

Why don't you go to the P&Z meeting tonight and the City Council meeting tomorrow and ask those questions...

It is your right as an american citizen to question your elected officials.

The P&Z meeting is on the 1st Tuesday of each month - not on Mondays.

The City Council meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays - so not until next week.

A quick glance at the City's Website answered these questions for me.

Yet another reason to not try to post on a forum while driving.  Too hard to interpret the calendar accurately.  I will go back to driving 60 in the left lane of 75 now.  Cheers...

Well, before the stupid $22K Pioneer woman branding fiasco, I would have said "yes".

Now I would honestly have to say "I just don't know...."   ::)

I think its far too early to tell if 'Anna' (the Pioneer Woman) is a fiasco.  Granted she wasn't what most of us expected, but while she managed to polarize the public, its often said that there's no such thing as bad publicity.

Obviously, we're not yet the laughing stock we thought we'd be, so there may yet be something to this.

Time, of course, shall reveal all.

That's because she isn't on the water tower or the police cars yet!  LOL

I bet our cops will stay off 75 once she is, they don't want to be picked on by the State Police...

I have total faith in my Council and City Management.  There is not a single person involved that has anything to gain financially or do they owe any favors to the Imperial forces.  As far as decisions I put my cards into their hands and trust them to call.

I vote yes because the town is STILL growing even during the middle of a recession.  We have new businesses being built in town - which at least to my knowledge isn't happening in very many small towns right now so they must be doing something right.
