City Ordinances
« on: August 17, 2008, 08:16:31 PM »
Since they city ordinances are not online yet, does anyone happen to know what the noise ordinance is? This is in regards to loud music, barking dogs, etc.

For example right now, I am listening to some very loud music. And it's not mine.  It's only a little after 8, so it isn't a big deal other then being annoying, but if it's still going on at 10 or 11, I would like to know if calling for someone to tell them to turn it down would be out of line.

Thanks!

That cranky neighbor.

And yes, it's too loud and I'm too old.

I think the same thing. Where did the ordinances go? They were there.

Hi

I am pretty sure that it's by 10:00 p.m. that the music is to be turned down. If you don't mind a suggestion, If I were you, I would first put a note in they're mailbox saying something like "I love music, but your's is getting a bit loud. They may not even be aware that its so loud that you can hear it. Remember communication is the best way, condemnation is not. Honey always works better in these situations than Vinegar. They could end up being great neighbors in the future, most people appreciate honesty in a positive way.

Well, now that would mean I would have to go out and track down where the music was coming from. I know it wasn't the immediate neighbors behind me, or to either side. And the fact that I was in my own home, with the windows closed, and could still clearly hear the music (not just the bass line), means it was way too loud. And unless they are stone deaf, they should have realized it. Nobody can play music that loud and "not realize" it's too loud.

In any event, the music was off by 10:30.

What about putting flyers on the door when you have NO SOLITICING - are there any ordinances against this (I know some cities have it)

Speaking of irritating--what about a dog that barks every 2-4 seconds for hours at a time??  What's the ordinance on that when it happens during the daytime??

As for barking dogs, a little pepper spray does the job. That will make them too busy rubbing their nose to worry about barking.
