Early Voting
« on: May 01, 2008, 04:08:09 PM »
Hi All I just wanted to remind everyone that Early voting for both City Council and School Boards is going on now.

You can vote M-F (April 28th - May 2nd) from 8 - 5 pm @ City Hall and Saturday May 3rd from 8am to 7pm and then again Monday the 5th & Tuesday the 6th from 8 - 5pm.
Election Day is Saturday May 10th from 7am - 7pm.

It looks like about 18-20 people have been voting per day so I just want to encourage everyone to speak to your friends and neighboors let them know city election are sometimes decided on less than 150 total votes which for a city of almost 10,000 is somewhat sad you have to voice your opinion.

I really think its sad we cannot find qualified candidates to get out and serve?!!! How many council members do we have that know what they are doing? Its really embarrassing to watch our council meetings...and now weve added the worst of them all. A man who is lead by his wife and has no thoughts of his own. I guess we cant get any worse now so the future can only get better! Come on May 2009!!! We need to clean house in this little town! Sad thing is this town doesnt even attract enough quality people to help run it! The good ones are slowly going away out of frustration. It seems that its very true what "they" say about the bad always bringing down the good . This town needs some answered prayers for sure!

What is it you think a council member is supposed to 'do' exactly, that they're not?

Funny thing is --- you didn't just stoop so low as to insult the man that the voting public CHOSE (and his wife on MOTHERS DAY), you also insulted the majority of voters in Anna. If you do not recognize that this town HAS in deed attracted "quality" people, it is because you do not know any of us. I'm SOOOO glad that Darren won, because you obviously have no concern for anyone other than yourself. You also have no respect for strong, confident women that make up 50% of a marriage. That is what you call a "partnership", but I guess you'd have to know how to get along with others to understand that one!
Ask me how I can help you feel your best.

I guess you don't know our New Councilman very well.  His wife does not lead him.  Yes, she is strong, effective and passionate.  However, Mr Driskell is all that and more.  I guess you are one of those that feel women belong in the kitchen.  Boy do I have news for you ..............

Time will tell.....I have no doubt that his lack of ability and her mouth will do much damage. Majority of voters - yes its sad! Most of our voters are people who treat all of this like its a high school election or popularity contest with absolutely no clue of the damage that can be done placing people with very little knowledge in a place where they can have some power. Im positive the ego will continue to show while his lack of education and preparation for this positions will appear as well and then you will all realize that you have released a sleeping giant that you will have to deal with. Oh well...watch and learn! Bitter...no, disgusted! I did not say that we do not have quality....we just dont have enough! I dont know Jon well but I know that when you compare knowledge, experience, integrity....theres no comparison - Jon has more! What exactly has Darrin accomplished? He mentioned the utility savings we could have by switching companies? This was for his own personal gain and he acted like a baby when the city made a decision to make a change but not have him involved. What else has the guy done? His only motive is money - for him! Even the mayor did not want him there.....that tells you something! Its ok....2 years isnt a lifetime and there will be plenty of proof after these 2 years that you all have made a grave mistake but hey...not much happening in Anna at this point. By the time everything shifts into a better place in the market we will have a better council in place!  If Im wrong in 2 years....I will say Im wrong - right here! I will give credit where credit is due but what has happened in Anna with this election is that it shows this town just cant get it together. The bad...always out shines the good!

I stopped listening at 'integrity' as it was overwhelmingly obvious at that point you had no idea what you were talking about.  Oh, I enjoy a good debate, but please try to keep the inflammatory statements to a minimum.  Thanks.

I do know Jon well. Actually I have known him most of my life. Do you call experience having to be removed as chairman of the Parks Board or is it almost bankrupting this town during his term as mayor???? A long list of failure is no experience to brag about !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately I missed voting this time (family emergency in ND), so by my personal code cannot complain about what happens due to the election. But that doesn't mean I won't keep my eyes opens and see what's going on.
There is a grain a truth for what Anna Resident has to say. If the people in the council now aren't doing a good job, we dump them at the next election.
I'm pretty new to town, so I don't have the past to call upon for information, just what people are doing now. So time will tell.

You are mean and bitter.  They are nice people and do not deserve this.  How you can do something like this and then call someone else a baby is beyond me.  You are the definition of "baby".

Go throw your baby fit someplace else.

Yep.  Tells me I'm glad I voted for Darren.  Cause the mayor ain't all that.  I'm ready to vote him out, too.  In 2009, to be exact.

Hey Darren, you want to be mayor?
