Well dang!  According to you, we shouldn't even have a mayor!

Everyone should know by now that there is no professionalism at a city council meeting.  It seems like a dog and pony show and there needs to be some changes, or we will all suffer.

Wow, just reading thru the comments here, I'm a bit shocked..  You're making all this grief over the *mayor having an office*..? and him bringing documents home?

I have lived in a number of towns smaller than this and I have never ever in my life seen one where the mayor didn't have an office and a firesafe filing cabinet, and most (God forbid) had a work-use laptop issued to them as well.  As much as the city is growing in recent years, it probably wont be a part-time position for long.  It's kind of time for people to kind of grow up a bit and take responsibility for the people operating our infrastructure.  You don't have to necessarily like what he's doing (I certainly don't like all of the plans I'm hearing rumors of), you dont have to vote for him, but e *Mayor* is a professional position, part time or not, and as such deserves space and resources at his disposal to conduct city business.

It's an absolutely ludicrous to deny such basics.

The position of Mayor is a legislative one.  City Staff, under the direction of Mr. Sanders operates our infrastructure.

Everything I say, do, imply, or infer is the sole representation and responsibility of the individual who owns this account and does not represent the opinion, policy, position, or intent of any organization or other entity, public or private.

I'm not going to fall into this trap.

understood

I would say though, that if the position were purely vote-on-issue there would be no reason to single out any person holding that position. Clearly there is some elements that separate the position apart from the other counsel members.  There appears to be enough of a difference that he can be assigned credit/blame for changes to the town (and tick people off in the process).

Acrimonious our mayor has been positioning himself to make money from his position sometimes. One might say to point of conflict of interest.

I agree. The position is largely a symbolic lightning-rod.  Let's change the charter.
