THis ordinance constitutes a tax for transfer of property which is unconsititutional in TX.  A high profile property rights group is looking for the right city to take to court over this issue and rumor has it, it may just be Anna.  Also, if you do not pass inspection, this disallows the possibility you can sell a property "as is" also violating property rights.

This is a slippery slope and it will not stand for long.

From what I have heard is that $25 dollars is for the city and $75 for the third party inspector.
Highly Unconstitutional! Sounds like the City leaders know the inspector or company that will be doing the inspection. Someone got there hand in the pocket of a city leader we need to find out who started this and ask a lot of questions and then vote them out.

This very issue was recently brought up to the Texas Realtors Association of Collin County.  The "chair person" went to Austin recently and discussed with officials what the options were.  In additiion, Fox TV met with the city manager and it is unclear what is going to be done, but the ordinance stays.  Maybe the fee will go away.  Fox TV filmed a story on this last week and will air sometime in the future.  The next city council meeting is Tuesday, 3-9 at 7pm  (I believe) and urge everyone to go.... One other thing... Anna is the only city in 20 surrounding cities that has this ordinance, but Farmers Branch has it, but there is no charge.

Sounds like to me that the city is desparte for cash flow.  Being 23 million in debt will do that to a city.

I was thinking about setting up a charge to move into my neighborhood.  Maybe I should reconsider.

I have been round and round with Philip Sanders regarding this issue.  I was one of the first residents who voiced their opinion on this outragis ridicilous fee.  An email address <diane@ccar.net> is your key to discuss this issue.  Her name is Diane Connelly, Collin County Association of Realtors.  She recently went to Austin on this issue and is obviously frustrated with the City of Anna.  In my opinion, this seems like a hidden tax.  I have met with the city and they are not budging, unless they get sued.  Fox TV interviewed me on this, it aired in April and embarrassed the city, them knowing this was a wrong decision adopted.
Whoever reads this, I plead you to email Diane Connelly at diane@ccar.net.

There is more than what I know.

Where in the minutes did City Council pass this ridiculous fee for utilities?  Was it one of those "under the table" deals?

Not that it's right, or that I'm agreeing with the ordinance, but I did hear that code upgrades can be filed on your insurance.  I don't know if it's true, but it's something to keep in mind if you have to contend with this when trying to sell a home.

I wanted the citizen of Anna to know what crooks our City official are!    My daughter had her water service turned off when she thought she was being transferred at work;   it was turned off in June 2010.   She now has found out that she isn't being relocated and in order to get her water turned back on she now not only has to pay the $150 dollar deposit (which I don’t have a problem with)  but also a $100 dollar inspection fee!    This is a crock!   Seems illegal to me,   I now wish that I didn’t own a house in Anna and she didn't have to stay here!    That’s what I get for thinking Anna was a good place to live and raise my children!  Sheis a single Mom of 2 with a single income, thanks a lot Anna!

This town is small enough for a case by case basis, especially if she just turned it off.

What does a $100 fee have to do with being a good place to raise children?

What does a $100 fee have to do with being a good place to raise children?

That's very similar to this question: Why is Kanye not out on MTV awards shows saying "I'ma let you finish, but Barack Obama doesn't like Gulf people." ?
"I like to drink out of the creek and sleep near mud."
