Look, up in the sky.  It's a bird...  It's a plane... Oh, never mind...  It's a star.

I heard the new High School will adopt the City Logo as their new mascot.  The "Anna Pioneer Woman"  (my own High School was the "Northwest Texans"). Some are grumbling that shed in that light, she appears to be a harsh taskmaster, pointing errant children to the Principal's office while other's argue its a symbol of victory, "pointing" to the opposing teams field goal.

GO TEAM!

Just as an aside, I am not going to wear a bonnet to the games.  My support stops there.

Now that I'm thinking about it, how about the picture on the City's home page with the guys on the dock.  You know the one.  I especially like the guy standing there with his shirt on his head.  Nothing says "You want to live here!" more than a guy standing with his shirt on his head.

I just saw it.

Don't know what to say. I'm not impressed.

Who's idea was it to change it?

Color was not purple to begin with.  It was a blue 'A'.

I thought it was a white 'A' on a blue background?

Purple is related to AISD.

And what, pray tell, does the 'A' in 'AISD' stand for?

As different schools come on board and proclaim their own identities, purple and Anna will no longer be synonymous.

Well for the love of all creatures great and small I hope it was the City of Anna's idea!  I'd hate to think that the City of Melissa had a hand in forcing us to adopt a new logo.  Though in all fairness, the way things have been going there, perhaps our Pioneer Woman should've had a bottle of hooch in her outstretched hand?

I'm all about history, but seriously - Little House on the Prairie woman?

And we're trying to attract what with this?  A new school marm?

Just seems really 1970's to me.

Next thing you know prairie dresses will come back and we will be required to buy them from the Polygamy Sect...   ::)

I do like the Y(Our) Hometown though.

I'll have to drive by city hall again.  I thought it was a large blue circle "A" with white background.  Of course I'm not too observant like that.

Duh...what does the 'I' in 'AISD' stand for?

So they're adopting the blue statue of liberty with a bonnet as a mascot.  See, purple and Anna are forever decoupled.  ;)

sometimes you people astound me.  Come on...

First, I am with Fred.  Purple is the SCHOOL's color.  Has nothing to do with the town of Anna.  The school and the city are completely separate entities.

The old logo is a BLUE A on a white field with a blue circle around it.  BLUE

Anna has a rich history and OLD history.  Anna was around when this style of dress was common place.  The logo honors the heritage of Anna.  Did you see the unveiling?  Did you see the other silhouettes that can be used with the logo?  There are 3 more that I can remember - a man in a business suit, a woman in a business suit and i believe a man in casual attire - can't remember for sure.

The point of a logo is to represent what a town has been, is and will be.  When an entity develops a logo they want it to be immediately recognizable.  The "A" did not do that for us. It was a take off of Plano's and made you wonder if it was Anna or Allen.  This new logo is distinctive and unique.

Finally - the star.  Come on this is Texas.  Is a star not the most representative image of Texas?  I think it is.  But it also stands out by itself and speaks of open spaces and reaching towards a goal.  But maybe it is too deep and symbolic for shallow people with no vision....
