she appears to be a harsh taskmaster, pointing errant children to the Principal's office
I prefer to see that she is shooting toward the star with a .22 in her hand.  Perhaps in some sort of prairie style celebratory gunfire.

Don't mess with Anna!  We wear bonnets and have guns!

Seriously, though - as art, it has perspective problems. The perspective relationship between the woman and the star is off.

sometimes you people astound me.  Come on...

First, I am with Fred.  Purple is the SCHOOL's color.  Has nothing to do with the town of Anna.  The school and the city are completely separate entities.

The old logo is a BLUE A on a white field with a blue circle around it.  BLUE

Anna has a rich history and OLD history.  Anna was around when this style of dress was common place.  The logo honors the heritage of Anna.  Did you see the unveiling?  Did you see the other silhouettes that can be used with the logo?  There are 3 more that I can remember - a man in a business suit, a woman in a business suit and i believe a man in casual attire - can't remember for sure.

The point of a logo is to represent what a town has been, is and will be.  When an entity develops a logo they want it to be immediately recognizable.  The "A" did not do that for us. It was a take off of Plano's and made you wonder if it was Anna or Allen.  This new logo is distinctive and unique.

Finally - the star.  Come on this is Texas.  Is a star not the most representative image of Texas?  I think it is.  But it also stands out by itself and speaks of open spaces and reaching towards a goal.  But maybe it is too deep and symbolic for shallow people with no vision....

But as it was said before, we don’t want something we have to think about.... if you want "deep and symbolic" go to the Dallas Museum of Art. This is a City Logo, it shouldn't have to come with an explanation! or maybe I'm just crazy....

That's right where I want to build the City of Anna John Geren Jedi Master Public Library!

I love historical perspective.  I do not like the woman in the prairie dress and bonnet because women had very few choices and freedoms then, and I really don't like to be reminded of it.

You think they wore prairie dresses, petticoats and bonnets because they wanted to?  You think they wanted to wear all that in the summer heat in Texas with no air conditioning?

Why not a cowboy or a chuckwagon or a coyote or something to represent the history.  Not a symbol of some basically enslaved woman from 1850's who was sweating to death.  I am not inspired in the least by the prairie woman.  And if I didn't live here and I saw that as a city's symbol, I don't think I would want to go there or move there.

While I like the idea behind identifying the singularization within the possessive, its wholly dissatisfying due to its intrinsically discordant nature.  Ideas like this can work when the two discrete words are audibly similar.  When they're not, however - it simply doesn't.

To ensure I'm getting the idea across properly, I've been pronouncing it yahour which is difficult to say, even harder to hear, and sours my stomach just a little when I speak it aloud.

Are others saying it differently?

I think the logo should be a beer truck being driven by Jack Daniels while he's sitting at a truck stop & eating a donut!
