Something weird this way comes
« on: March 04, 2008, 09:52:53 PM »
Just thought I would let y'all know that I was elected a precinct delegate to the Collin County Democratic Convention.

It is so neat being involved and the process if fascinating.

Of course, I also missed my Government class tonight, but I think the prof will understand.

So what does that allow you to do?  How was the caucus?  The news said McKinney was awful, so I was curious how it was in Anna.

Well, it was crowded. For the main precinct #17, which covers most of the city, there were 119 people there to caucus. Basically, you sign in on a sheet for your candidate of choice, including undecided. They count the number that signed in, and the 13 delegates are then assigned proportionally.

It was a bit confusing. Mainly because there were so many people there. It was hard to hear what she was saying. But it was also fun, educational, interesting. All that good stuff.

Being a delegate, I know get to go to the County Convention as a vote for my Candidate with a chance to be picked as a County delegate to go to the State Convention. That would be fun.

And as long as you voted in the primary, you can apply to be a National Delegate. I know that is how the Dems work. The Republicans may have their own system. Check your party's website.
