I have to go back to what Chuckster said:  What happens if we miss a week? That is going to be fun fun fun in the summer time.

Probably the reason for Tara Farms just going to trash bags instead of a trash can was because when we did put them in trashcans, the company would throw the cans in our yard.  One more than one occasion, I have personally seen the employees of the company play "throw the bags of trash at the other guy in the truck" resulting in trash being flung out of the bags, in to the street for us to clean up.

Yeah, I agree that it shouldn't be about Bradshaw and Sons but if it's going to be that then I will say that THEY SUCK.  I will gladly pay more money for no limit on the bags, more than one bin and employees that care about getting the trash in the truck as opposed to everywhere else.

No Mess Jesus!

Well I guess I'm one of those retards that places my bag of garbage on the curb. Why do I do such a stupid thing, you ask? How about this for a reason.

I've watched the people that pick up the garbage take the bag out of the bin, the toss the bin down. I've had one break already and am on the replacement.

Now, if there is a bin that the truck will be able to automtically pick up, that's all well and good, but is the bin then going to be tossed right back into the yard? Or is it going to be put back where it was?

And since I missed the meeting last night due to school, I'll have to ask for some more details so I don't get my information wrong.

I won't want to pay for those things if they only pick up trash once a week though.

Yeah, I forgot to mention still keeping the trash pick up twice a week.  That barely does it for us.

Its my understanding that city policy requires cans, which is why its such a great argument.  "Lets give them cans!"  You have cans, and choose not to use them.

Problem still exists.

The City Manager conducted his own experiment (awesomely proactive) with his family of nine (OMG) and presented his conclusion to the Council that the freaking huge cans (two of which can be stored in your garage, with two cars) were plenty large enough, even if you had missed a week. e.g; no issues with TWO FULL WEEKS of garbage.

Even if I could fit those in my garage - WHY WOULD I STORE TWO WEEKS OF GARBAGE IN MY HOUSE?!?!?!?

We've FINALLY got the garage ready to put our minivan inside during storms, and now they want some larger cans in there as well? Yeah our garage is going to smell like poopy diapers X 10 in the summer with once per week pickups. Having a recycling pick up once per week doesn't help with the diapers! E & Lady L, I apologize for the stench that may waft over to your yard when we open the garage to leave.

I love all the literal people on this board!

You can get additional bins if one is not enough for your family.  I am not sure on the cost, but it is a monthly fee.

As the city attorney so nicely pointed out at the Council Meeting in March.  The City Council does not need to have the citizen's approval to change trash services.  I was astounded.  If you don't like the choices that are being considered I highly suggest you contact the city or a councilman.  You can contact the city directly here or   Here for the information on the current councilmen.

I like the idea of the bins.  I know that it will be a change and an adjustment.  I do think it will help cut down on trash.  People who can't be bothered to put their trash in bags can just dump it in the bins and probably will.

Since the service will be staying with Bradshaw, they say that they will pick up any extra bags that you have.  They do provide good customer service, better than we would get with some of the bigger companies from Dallas.

Do you remember what happened last summer when 2 days of garbage was stored out there?  Can you imagine 2 weeks?!

$5 month additional.

I do not.  People are lazy.  I hope you're right and I'm wrong.

People who can't be bothered to put their trash in bags can just dump it in the bins and probably will.

Nothing more I hate than a subdivision with a garbage bin out front of every house.  If you're too lazy to drag your garbage to a curb on a weekly basis, you're likely not going to move the bin.  Ever.  Again, its about people.

We had this system in GA --- but we were able to keep our bins outdoors and pay a minimal fee to have the trash guys come retrieve the bins and put them back up at the rear of the house. We had a much larger lot and a drive way that went around to the back of the house, so that the bins were hidden. Having them in the garage is going to suck in the Summer. I understand about decomposition, but there is no way I can have poopy diapers sitting there without being tied tightly up in bags (diaper genie bag + garbage bag). I guess the stench will be a motivator to get our daughter potty trained right away!

I guess I'll start a compost pile in the back yard to help my garden, since no one will notice the smell over the rest of everyone's garbage.

I will be happy to start using the bins.
Will the city, I mean the waste collection company, replace them for free when they get flung around after being emptied? Or will I need to pay for replacements due to the negligence of those collecting the bins?
