They just drive down the street very slowly and a digital reader picks up from inside the truck.

Our bill this month was our average winter bill, but make sure you don't have a leak by turning everything in the house off and checking to see if the meter is moving.  We had a leak when we moved in that was undetectable any other way.  The sprinkler company had incorrectly tapped in to the main line and we saw no evidence because it was washing out a huge sink hole under our sidewalk.  Our first few months bills were all between $300-$400, then we finally got it figured out.

I watched them drive down my street reading the meters.. The guy jumping out of the passenger door of the truck, lifting the cover on the ground and yelling out a number didn't seem very digital to me.   ;D

He used his digits to open the cover, didn't he?

Well, maybe their reader was broken, or your meter wasn't transmitting.  Let me amend my statement to say "Under normal circumstances, they just drive down the street very slowly and a digital reader picks up from inside the truck."

I'm beginning to believe that under normal circumstances they drive around and "see" the numbers through divination.

Question your water bill if you think something is wrong. They re-read mine yesterday and corrected if very quickly.

In the 7 pages of this thread, I don't think anybody made mention of WHO STARTED the thread...  That makes me all funny giggle inside.
