Water Chlorine ?
« on: October 29, 2009, 09:55:17 PM »
Has anyone else noticed the high concentration of chlorine in the water lately ? It is starting to irritate our kids eyes when we give them a bath. The bathroom smells like a swimming pool. Is this a city issue or is it a supply issue from the new line ?

I have. Actually I have noticed it here and there for the last 2 years. Lately it has been more so.

Maybe all of the rain warrants it at the plant? Heck I dont know how this stuff works. I do know we can not keep up our pool right now.

Haven't noticed any chlorine, but I noticed yesterday that the tap water tasted god-awful.  It was clear, but tasted baaaad.  It was closer to normal today.  I have to imagine this sudden influx of rain has to have some impact on our water supply.  ???

YES!  I was giving the kids a bath last night and it smelt like a swimming pool.  My skin has been so itchy  and I wonder if that is the reason.  Before I saw this post I was thinking it was the cooler weather but it may be the higher chlorine levels in water.  Hopefully it will balance out soon.

I'm thinking it has something to do with tying into the new line recently. When we first moved here in late 2005, it was all well water. I was fine with that, but understand wells cannot supply us all.

i posted something similar to this in "oak hollow."  tonight we noticed brown water as we filled the tub to give our son a bath.  plain tap water in the house tastes horrible.  the filtered water from the fridge seems ok.... but you never know unless you test it.  also, we filled up our sinks, flushed toilets, and the water that is being replaced is a little brown.  just plain nasty!!  anybody else?

Our water was brown today too. We called the water department (lovely people, I think Hitler works there) and they said that the fire hydrants had been flushed and that was the cause of the nasty brown water. I don't have a problem with them doing that, but why can't they let us know so we can prepare? We can get calls from the Code Red things letting us know about weather alerts and we can get calls from the  school to let us know about upcoming events. Why can't the water department get their act together?
