Man, that's barely enough to cover a prohibition election every year.

True, but Bronco Mfg covers several elections.

They are a machine shop (http://broncomfg.net/).  One of their big customers is Abbott Laboratories.

But only 8547.35 goes to the City. The rest goes to County, the ISD, CCCCD.

Good catch.  So Fossil only contributes $2,769.92 in property taxes.  Hardly worth the fuss.   :D

I paid my sales tax yesterday.  $2.02 went to the City of Anna.  How many elections does that cover  ;D

Agreed.  That's a good enough reason to fight.

I just think the argument "I'm for alcohol sales because it helps the city grow" is on par with "I play the lottery because the funds go to our schools".

If you want to help the city, I'm sure you can just make out your check to "City of Anna".

I agree that the liquor stores themselves cannot support the needs of the city.  However, the other businesses that follow all place a few more $$'s in the bucket.  It is like multiplying pennies - it all adds up.

If we vote liquor out, then other businesses will decide that Anna does not want or support them.  Yes the businesses will come, but it will be YEARS before they do.

Again - I point to Rowlett.  Same song different city.

and by the way - I do not want to live in Frisco.  I am sick and tired of the fish comparing Anna to Frisco - makes me love truck stops more and more everyday.

Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me.
