Buyer beware!  Great ideas often receive violent opposition from mediocre minds.

From Audacity of Hope:   'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'
By:  Barak Hussein Obama

I think he was specifically referring to the Japanese internment camps during WWII.  The actual quote from the book is from page 261 and is as follows: "Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

Thank you for the context E.  I hate quotes taken out of context. They are usually inflammatory.   :-\

Nothing out of context here.  The word "Muslims" inserted for to clearify what the man is saying.  Read what you want to into the long paragraph written, or face the truth.  Better now than when he is President and has disarmed America.

Also, if we just look up another post on Google then cut and paste; are we really doing research?

Why pit one fanatical religion against another fanatical religion?

Hate mongers.  Mud slinger.  Liar.  Word Twister.  This type of slander and wordplay along with comments like yours have ruined most people on politics/politicians.   If it is worth repeating, then repeat all of it and be truthful.  Your insertion of "Muslim" into that quote was misleading at best, insidious is more appropriate.

He was saying that he would stand with AMERICAN CITIZENS that happen to be Muslim.   And I went and found the entire speech.  I do my own research and am well informed before I speak.  Perhaps you should do some in depth research of your own.

By the way, I do not think Barack is the person for the White House, but my opinion has nothing to do with this statement or his religious affiliations.

Why not?  It appears to me that he is being respectful to the man in front of him.  Perhaps even trying to be empathic.  That does scream Christian to me.

No.  Did I touch a nerve on you?

Your comment implies that is ok for you to express your opinion, not for me to express mine.  That is not how it works.  If you are going to make statements like you have then you need to realize that people are going to comment back with their own opinion.

So any old inane comment would work for you.  You don't care to have an intelligent conversation?

Great...

Yep. Just what I would expect during another political season. I was waiting to see how long someone would take to bring up 9/11. So here is my comment, since you seem to want them.

Was it a tragedy? Yes. Definitely. It changed everyone's life forever. My brother was supposed to be on one of those planes out of Boston. There were several panicked HOURS before we knew he was okay. Fortunately, his business trip was canceled. A vice president for the company I worked for at the time (he was in the NY office) was in the plane that hit the Pentagon. So yes. The tragedy affected EVERYONE in this country, not just Republicans or Democrats. Not just Conservatives and Liberals.

And I find it absolutely SHAMEFUL that you would bring out that picture of the towers burning to further your own political agenda.

A NATIONAL disaster like that should have been something that brought this country together. And it did for a few brief moments.

Now it's used to denigrate and divide.

I am a very proud citizen of this country that can count among my ancestors those that helped create this country, long before the Revolutionary War. I LOVE my country. Which also means I am able to agree or disagree with those that are in power. I can be vocal about that disagreement, or I can show it at the polls. But I DO NOT and WILL NOT cloak myself in this great country's flag, crowing about superior patriotism. The flag is a symbol of freedom; it is not a blindfold for unreasoned acceptance of the government.

You should be ashamed of yourself. My Veteran Grandfathers for many generations on both my mother's and father's families would find you conduct shameful, sir. Entirely shameful.

I am a Daughter of the Revolution.

That is all I have to say.

"Mr Conservative" is just trying to cause fear & anger, as a self-proclaimed member of the "World Police" or "New World Order".

Mr C, come down from your Illuminati high horse, and go try your mind control on some other community.
