Travesty really...that a town does'nt care enough to perform their civic duty.....they probably thought that Pelham had it wrapped up. I hoped he did anyway. Having Driskell for a mayor is like me hiring you to do my taxes because you KNOW someone that can do taxes. Driskell can barely button his shirt, let alone run a township. Oh, but wait....he KNOW folks....somewhere, that can run a town.....Where is Ray and Melvin when you need them for "animal removal"?   Makes sense in Anna.....

The numbers are more or less indicative of the entire nation - so your concern that at the 'town' level, we as the citizens of the City of Anna being particularly uncaring is in error.  When we've needed to - when its counted - the City of Anna has shown an impressive outpouring of support at the polls, but I wouldn't assume you know that either, as it appears you yourself are no stranger to apathy.  I didn't 'hope' anything about anyone as far as the mayoral candidates were concerned, rather I did my best to stay informed and discussed openly my choice of candidate and why.  I spread the word best I could to those I thought would help usher in a new era.  Now I appreciate your position - I really do, but you've given no evidence on Mr. Driskell's inability to deftly negotiate buttonholes with buttons, and I wonder sir, where does that leave us?

I don't know what you do for a living, but a lot of what I see getting accomplished sometimes has much to do with social networking, especially where full-time politics is concerned, and those who sacrifice their lives to serve give up time with family, and time for themselves - a very demanding schedule, both on the the clock, and after hours.  Who you know is never underestimated to opening new doors, meeting new people, and having someone take time out of their busy schedule for you.  I for one am thrilled that Mr. Driskell knows people, which should ease, even if just a little, getting us as a City closer to where we need to be as we batten down the hatches and prepare for the eventual growth which will return.

And Ray and Melvin are pillars - pillars I say of this community.  They somehow manage to show us the direction we're going by giving us just a glimpse into its past, and besmirching their good name here is nothing short of foolish for oftentimes its that bond between past and future which provide the segue to bring us together.

Seriously, I mean, what the hell does his shirt buttoning have to do with being mayor?  I can't even think of a time when I saw Driskell in a button down shirt, but that is not the point.  I didn't vote for Driskell for various political reasons, mainly that I thought he needed more time on council, but he is our mayor and we need to support him for the next two years.  Who knows, he may prove himself and I may vote to re-elect him when the time comes.

BTW, I also didn't vote for Obama.  :P

That two years is a very long time.  Yes, he is our mayor and we cannot take that back.  Does he look the part?  No, but that doesn't mean that he cannot be the part.  I have nothing to base my opinion on whether he can "be" the part.

I remember some time ago someone mentioned that he supposedly stated that he had an "untouchable" factor since he was mayor.  Now unless he just forgot to hang his placard for disability on the rear view mirror, I see no reason for him to park in a handicapped parking spot at JKB.

One of my co-workers has handicapped stickers because his wife is handicapped and he parks in the blue spot next to the door every day in his jacked up truck he has to leap in and out of.  That kinda stuff is ridiculous IMO.  Yes, even my laziness has boundaries.
