I was responding to the string of comments refering to the churches sponsorship of the event, tax free status, etc.

I apologize for not responding to your original point.  I agree 100% with the 'buying votes' image.  I thought the same thing about Fossil handing out free pizza or whatever it was I saw a few weeks back.  I didn't say anything then, but I thought it.  And I would have thought the same thing if I had seen this event advertised.

I'm not sure why the church said yes, nor why they would fold and cancel the event.  I suspect they said yes because that is the position they support.  I guess it's a lack of conviction or guts to stand for their beliefs if the fear of conflict is the reason for the cancellation.

FBCAnna staff was not made aware of this event.  Once they were informed of the flyer, they very quickly had a meeting to discuss the goings on of the member that proposed the event.  Once they (the staff and Deacons) discussed the event, they did determine that it was not to be had on their property AT ALL.  They have remained nuetral as a church and continue to do so :)
