Field north of 455 between Stetson Ranch and The Falls
« on: September 07, 2010, 12:08:25 AM »
I did some digging and found this webpage in reguards to this field. I noticed there is about 40 ac. of retail split on either side of Furguson Dr.  The average Walmart needs about 20-22 ac to build. Just a little "food for thought".

If a Walmart goes in there it wouldn't be a traditional store imho. It would be a "Neighborhood Market" which is a small grocery store. Limited selection but great prices. It would scare the bejesus outta Brookshires. Their Allen store closed not soon after Walmart neighborhood market opened.

Yeah and I have heard for years that Disney is coming to Anna.

Really, do you think WalMart would come to a 2 lane road?  I heard the county cut its taxes by 25 million and that is all coming out of roads.  I don't see 455 widening anytime in the near future.

I was under the impression that that is not only a state project, but that it had already been funded.

You talking about the state funded Mickey Mouse project?  I thought that was down in Austin.  :P

According to this the funding set for 2014.  I thought I had seen something that said the end of this year, but I guess I was wrong...

hmmm...About a month or so ago I found something on the internet that said the widening of 455 (the section running by Brookshires) would start in December 2010.  It is in one of my older posts.  I wonder if this is still true?

The Walmart Neighborhood Market in east Allen was about 5 miles east of 75 at Exchange and Angel. In the middle of houses. The Brookshires that closed was on Greenville Ave, a major highway. So Walmart WILL build away from major highways. If it happens it won't be the end of the world.

Personally, I hope Brookshires is always there.  I like that store.  I even find myself stopping in there to grab a sandwich for lunch every once in a while.  Killing it with a Walmart across the street or within a mile would be sad.

When Wal-Mart moves into an area, everyone gets a bump in pay.  Next time you pay way more than you should for an item at Brookshires's, think about how sad that is.

I would be super happy if Wal-Mart came into Anna.  Don't worry, you can get sandwhiches there too, and ready to eat salads, take and bake pizzas...anything.  The Neighborhood Market has all of that, so yeah, I would be happy.  I can go to Wal-Mart and Brookshires and come out with the exact same items, and have spent $100 at Wal-Mart and $120 at Brookshires.  We do the $100 trip about 5 times a month, so do the math.  Good savings.

So true, plus have ever tasted a Wal-Mart Rueben? You might as well pay a hooker crap the kraut into your mouth after recovering from a case of Dysentery.

Yeah sweet ???, but only for people working in a competing retail. The rest of us won't see Jack or Shit while having to deal with increased traffic through our neighborhoods.

Actually, everyone that shops there gets a pay increase by having to pay less for stuff you have to buy.

Hope Walmart doen't come.  Anna is already on the verge of white trash.

I no longer believe that's an accurate representation.  What I have seen, is "white trash" Wal-Marts when they move into demographically depressed areas.

I've also seen clean, upscale, polite Wal-Marts catering to people of all races when they're built in higher-class neighborhoods.

Ergo, if Anna goes "white trash" Wal-Mart won't be to blame.  The fault will be entirely our own.
