Organic Living
« on: September 24, 2007, 04:24:27 PM »
Anyone know of a good Farmer's Market around here? Driving to Plano to find a Whole Foods store really bites. I just want to be able to find really fresh produce and maybe some local honey. Stuff like that.

I'm also up for trading organic recipes. I've got some yummy ones!

I'm working on a webpage of recipes using OSX's Connoisseur application.  I'd love to trade once I'm up and running!

McKinney has a farmer's market.  Never been though, so I can't comment on quality.

Well, my family and I have been on a crusade for a little while now to eliminate high fructose corn syrup and all hydrogenated oils from our diet. It's tough, and I don't think I could do it if I wasn't at home with my baby. If I had to work full-time AND try to cook healthy, organic meals every day --- I'd drop.

I saw an article about the McKinney farmers market, but it was from like 2 years ago. I wasn't sure if they still did it every weekend. I'll have to check it out soon.

It sounded like they have quite a selection. I like local honey, because it helps with allergies. Since we have just moved from Atlanta --- we need all the help we can get.

The Wolf spider also carries its young on its back. They can get quite large as well.

McKinney has a farmer's market.

It has about 5 booths.  One is organic meat, but the others don't appear to have much local or organic stuff.

BUT,  I did stop at the new Kroger on 121 and couldn't find the normal stuff because there was so much organic.  So that is a good place to go, and also Market Street.

True, it was a tarantula.  However, the purpose of the link was to outline my first visit to the McKinney Farmer's Market, which I will now highlight here:
Quote
Saturday morning we trekked into McKinney for the Farmer's Market. My dad took my brother and I to the one in Dallas as kids. Whole boxes of fresh apples, oranges, grapefruit, strawberries. Bags and bags of fresh vegetables. We'd go twice a month and feast of fresh food in between. There must've been 150 stalls - each farmer hauling in his wares.

The one in McKinney had four.

And one was selling candles.

I thought at first that this title was Orgasmic living.
For my show to continue to prosper I must find new and original show ideas.
