What do you guys use for police scanner info?
« on: December 14, 2011, 09:45:31 PM »
For the longest time I used an app called Scanner Radio, but a couple months ago it stopped carrying the Collin County steam..

So on nights like tonight when a bunch of sirens go off and wake me up, I don't know what's going on.

I got a regular scanner with the NEW correct freqs. They have been recenty changed, but are listed on Radio Reference. Thing is when you put all six of them in the scanner you get Collin County dispatch, field opps,pd1, the jail, min security jail, juvenile det., building maintance and the courts. You just have to know what to listin for to be able to tell what is going on. I have sent a request about a week ago to Radio Reference to put dispatch back on their live feed. I hope they do soon.

We should get walkie talkies so I can hear too.

They recently re-banded, and both of my scanners are old enough that they don't support the new step-down in frequency for a Moto TypeII trunk.  So basically, they're paperweights when it comes to listening to CCSO dispatch.

Some radios can get firmware upgrades to let them supported rebanded TypeII -- but not mine.

According to the RR site, regarding the feed, "Status: FEED OFFLINE FOR MAINTENANCE +++Antenna issues++++ service to be restored asap"  But this has been like that for months.

Eventually, I'll probably break down and buy a newer scanner.  Maybe I'll have to take the reigns and put the feed on RR.   I'm accepting donations for this public service project. :)
