What will Anna look like 5 years from now?
« on: February 02, 2012, 10:28:22 PM »
I have heard several people say that Anna will be the next McKinney and will experience high growth over the next 5-10 years.  I wonder what our little country town will look like in 5 years?  What are your predictions?

In 5 years, I think we will have wide city streets coming off the freeway at several places (e.g. 455, 371), several new shopping centers in town and near the freeway, and some big planning to redo downtown.  I don't think it will be the next McKinney in 5 years, but it will see a lot of changes.  Maybe the high school will have a new football stadium.

Anna grew to her current size during a housing boom.  There won't be any massive growth or change to our town until the economy warrants it.

In five years time Anna will have above-ground "tubes" interconnecting all city services.  City Hall will move out of that single-wide and into a towering skyscraper which will be a beacon of hope to the tired, the weary, and the thirsty.  Flying cars will intersect the sky's of Anna and this will create not only new jobs, but also new positions of authority which will come with it:  Grand Air Marshall, et al.

In five years time Anna will become the technological hub of Collin County.  City Engineers will invent a seasonal-based networking product which will use the power of the sun for high-speed access during the summer months, and the cooler air for the same speeds during the winter months.  We'll ship all our trash to McKinney who's new ultra-mega Recycling Center will cost billions to build and run but create untold amounts of carcinogenic byproducts while Anna turns more toward composting and becomes a mecca of sorts for the Amish, who will arrive in droves, displacing the Mormons who will retreat to Melissa.  The Amish, eschewers of technology, will create their own Anna Texas Forum.  It will be held in Jedidiah's barn every Wednesday at six, after Mass.

In five year's time a precious ore will discovered under the City Hall's single-wide causing the Federal Government to lay siege upon our city and us local's will bear arms against them.  At the very pinnacle of  hostilities,  Extra-Terrestrials will reveal themselves, denounce Christ, praise Crist, and erect a statue of Livia in the new Town Center.  They will instill Driskell in a life-term for Mayor.

We will have single-handedly changed the face of the entire world.

This, in 5 years.

Long live Anna.

I think the biggest change will be on the west side of 75, between new housing and commerce. Although a lot of that land is flood plain. Hopefully the state will improve the 75/455 intersection and bridge due to the heavy truck traffic there. If housing bounces back I can see Oak Hollow expanding into the wooded section to the west. We walked that and it was beautiful. Of course the builder would knock most of those pesky trees down.

I concur.  Aside from the supposed new lanes on 455 (and then hopefully a few stop lights at the various high traffic intersections), I don't see much happening at all.  5 years really isn't much time for major projects.

It's been quite nice telling all our friends and family for over 5 years now that we live in a "1 stop light town" - that will surely change in the next 5 years :(

My favorite was the old, faded, dusty signs in the windows of shops in Saudi declaring, "SPECIAL SALE TODAY ONLY!!!"

"soon"  right.

We need 4 lanes to accommodate all of the pizza delivery drivers.
