Renting in Meadow Ridge

Was just wondering if anyone else "renters" where having an issue with certain landlords or should we say property owners keeping up with maintenance "repairs"?  I am new to Meadow Ridge, moved this past October and was promised that certain things would be fixed upon moving in.  Which wasn't and still haven't "5 months later"!!! I know this is typical interaction between renter and rentee,  but after noumerous phone calls and even a letter still get the runaround!  Would fix most the problems myself , except one of the main concerns is a mold issue under what's left of the carpet by the back door! ???

I live in Meadow Ridge, but own not rent.  We've seen a huge increase in leased homes in the past year.  I can tell you for a fact that a few years ago, this neighborhood looked a lot better.  Seems to just be the nature of the leasing business.  I don't have any helpful info, but you could do a search on Google for advise on how to get landlords to get repairs done.

I typically call my landlord and tell him there is a problem and how much it will cost for me to fix it.  Then I subtract it from my rent.
He really seems to appreciate it as I'm not bugging him with problems every week.  Just a thought if your a DIY type of person.
