So the city is looking at implementing trash bins instead of the 'throw your bags on the street' method we're all used to.

Personally, I like the animal-proof nature of the lidded bins, but not nearly as much as I dislike the limited capacity offered by these systems.

Hopefully they'll offer the ability to procure multiple bins.

Here in Pecan Grove, we don't throw our trash out in the street in bags.  Sure I pay some money to my HOA, and sure sometimes they're a pain in the ass, but my life could be much, much worse.  My neighbors could throw their garbage out in the street in bags.

God Bless my HOA.

The burning question is this:  Will the bins aid you in getting the trash to the curb?

They hold a lot.  Plus the recycling bins are large as well, so if you recycle that reduces the amount of your trash.  And YES you should be able to procure additional bins.

I just actually spoke to Heather of Bradshaw's and they will be able to offer a second Bin, however they are REALLY pretty big and with the recycling bin along with it I might suggest (this coming from a mom of 4) that you try it with one and see how it goes.  Remember, they will still pickup twice a week.  Smiley

Yay!
I, for one, would be very happy with city trash bins. Anyone know when?

The article said summer.  The city has to finalize the bid before it can go live.

I currently use 30 gallon heavy duty lidded trash cans and hate that people put their trash on the curbs in bags because it blows all over the place.  The downside to the trash cans is I swear the trash service makes a point of throwing the cans in the street rather than up on the curb.

We need to bring this up to the city so that they can address the problem with Bradshaw's.

Oh I've seen 'em do it.  Those guys rock 'n roll down the street having a blast, throwing bags from 20 feet trying to emulate Michael Jordan.

In Pecan Grove, they normally do not throw the bins in the street. Yesterday, though, they threw E's smack dab in the middle of the road for some reason. Mine were laid down in the grass, so I'm not sure why they saw it necessary to put his bins in the way of all our neighborhood traffic. I had baby girl with me, so just pulled them out of the street. Sorry I didn't get them all the way up the drive way.

I used to use a rolling can. In fact it's still in my garage. But after coming home to find it in the street, driveway, middle of the yard, the neighbors yard, across the street... you get the idea. It was just easier to throw the bag by the mailbox. And yes, I called and let them know about the various areas the can ended up.

the trick is to leave them a xmas gift like I do, and I even have them picking up some trash that blows off.  Not all the time, but sometimes.  The guys all seem to change, but the driver remains the same.  He knows I hooked him up and I get a big hello and smile everytime I see them Wink
