Hello everyone! My family and I have just moved to Oak Hollow within the past two months. We moved from Iowa. My husband Andy is employed with the city of Melissa as Head of Public Works, and I am currently working at the Olive Garden in McKinney. Back in Iowa I ran my own daycare for almost three years, and want to get back into it. It is so hard to find little ones here though. Any suggestions? I miss having little ones around. We have a 19 mnth old son, and a almost 6 year old daughter who will be starting kindergarten at Rattan Elementary in the fall. We are looking forward to meeting new people in the area, but aren't real sure how to go about it.

HOWDY!  My wife used to live in Iowa - I only ever visited the casino's in Council Bluffs when I lived near Omaha, though I did spend a wild weekend at a club named Pumpers once in Des Moines.  Boy is *that* a story for another time.

Hello!  Just hang out here and you will probably find some people that you "click" with.  And once school starts volunteering is a good way to find friends.  Until then just get outside, go to the pool, and hang out with your daughter.  Anna is pretty friendly and we have a few Oak Hollowers on here that can probably give you some tips.

Just an FYI, if your daughter is interested in sports sign ups for the fall happen in the summer.  We missed everything our first fall here because we didn't know.  Cheerleading sign ups are going on now and soccer will start soon.  Info can be found at leaguelineup.com/anna and that is a great way to make friends as well!

Welcome.  I have been reading in the forum but this is my first time to post.  I live in Oak Hollow too and one of my daughters is almost 6 and will be starting at Rattan in the fall too.  We signed her up for Cheerleading and they told me they have a lot of Kinder's signing up.  We will be at the festivities tonight but feel free to pm me.

My GGrandfather (Dad's side) is from Boone County, out around Ames somewhere. We're not very sure exactly where. But I traveled through Iowa quite a bit. It's a nice place.

But you'll like the winters here very much better.
