Besides, it's not like he is different than any of you with "characters". He just doesn't hide behind a secondary screen name.
People honestly do that? I feel all creeper if I go to a forum and I haven't logged in yet.
As far as Asperger's goes, I fit a crap ton of the criteria. But none of the 'weird' stuff like counting coins over and over. As a child though, I would perform all kinds of super strange rituals and I couldn't stop. Like if I tapped my left foot once I would have to tap my right foot twice to override the left foot tapping, then I would finish it off by tapping my left foot one more time to even things up. Usually that would turn into me having to start that tapping sequence in reverse (twice in a row) using the right foot, to override the sequence I performed with the left foot. Then I would return to the original sequence and repeat it with a left foot first tap. I could very easily turn that into the initial phase of some broader sequence that might get other things involved, and it would all have to be remembered and balanced out. I would never forget a single step in place, because it was so important to keep things even.
I don't necessarily enjoy extreme face to face confrontation, which seems to be a key symptom. I don't necessarily mind confrontation, but I am so laid back I prefer to avoid it. I am very aware when I offend, so that most likely rules me out.
I like pizza and maple syrup so maybe I have what Rainman had.
I haven't squished a tiny animal so I don't have what Lennie had.
To the OP, it is good that a diagnosis has been made. I'm sure it sheds a strange light on your previous encounters in life. Not to mention you get the chance to help your kid use the situation to their advantage. Lawyer, judge, drill instructor - all perfectly suitable for a person that can say whatever they feel like and be super direct! (hey, maybe my wife has it)
