Speeding Issues
« on: September 07, 2009, 06:50:56 PM »
To all those who speed down Meadow Ridge Drive on a daily basis:

If you see children playing out in front yards in our subdivision or standing on the curb waiting for the bus in the morning...please, please, please slow down! I see too many people speeding down these streets ALL the time who don't even glance up to notice that there are children who live in our neighborhood, who at a split second could get hit by your car!!

So please slow down!!!

I have to agree with this, I live close to the entrance of the neighborhood so I was already aware I would be dealing with this just for the fact people coming in off the highway but please use care as we do have small children and I along with most of you could only imagine the devastation of such an accident happening. I would also appreciate radios being turned down a notch once it gets a little later outside, I once upon a time liked my subs to thump to but at 10-11pm it would be appreciated if they were turned a bit lower.

Thanks everyone have a great rest of the weekend.

I have found a few others on our block that have young children and have the same issues with the speeding. And it really is mostly the same people that are doing it over and over, because we recognize the cars...but with the new school year starting back up in August, it worries me since my children will be outside waiting for the bus. So we are going to start writing down license plate numbers and submit them to the Anna PD...or maybe we can get a petition going to get speed bumps put in. We live in a small enough subdivision that everyone of us should be on board about keeping our community and our children safe.

Maybe we could organize a community watch????

Community stoning maybe.  Nothing else is going to be effective.

The sad truth is these people are either ignorant, or stupid, or both.  No amount of explanations, appeals, cajoling, befriending, pleading - ANYTHING - makes a difference to them.  They simply don't care because of those two reasons.

Most of the people speeding in our neighborhood, are not residents or people w/o kids.  Therefore, there is no way to stop them.

Emmitt Smith said it best.  “We had some diamonds, but we had a lotta cow poo poo around it, and the diamonds was mixed in with the poo poo…it just all look like poo poo.”

True...  True.

sad thing in our neighborhood is that , theres a few speeders and they HAVE kids,we watched a 8 year old almost creamed by the speeders, the husband was comin in one way and wife was going out, so they met at the corner...luckly the kid jumped onto the curb he was on the road but right by the curb, and to think those 2 have kids and they drive like they own the street...ugh...wonder what they would think if it were their kid that almost got run over?
Be Happy.....

City won't do speed bumps because of emergency vehicles I believe.

That or the fact that the speeders would get some wicked air.
