Is Northpointe Crossing safe?
« on: December 09, 2010, 01:08:59 AM »
Would you live there?  Only a few houses built.  Wondering how safe the neighorhood is?  I've met so many NICE people during the day in Anna, but worry how safe Anna is as a whole.  Is there a lot of crime?  Do the police show up quickly when called?

Concerned about strip of apts that run down Highway 5 before Northpointe Crossing?  Across from the new high school.  Not to put anyone's home down, but they looks kinda scary.

I've seen pros and cons about living in Anna posted on this awesome message board for which I'm grateful to find.  I like the area around Brookshires better than out by Northpointe, but found a good deal on a home.  Just afraid it's not safe or what the future holds on all the empty lots around the house.

Does anyone live in that subdivision?  Trying to make an educated decision.  Thanks!

I don't live there, but I know that the Anna PD spend some time there to make sure there is no dumping, speeding and any other "issues" since it can be a cut through.

I would live there.  Its the only subdivision with fewer houses than my own.

Then again, my is nestled - hidden from overt view, and extremely quiet because of that.

Its a toss-up.

I've lived in Meadow Ridge (across Hwy 5 from Northpointe Crossing, just South of Tara Farms) for five years now.  You have nothing to worry about at night.  90% of crimes happen during the afternoon when people are not home.  Everytime I've ever had to call the police, response has been quick.

The apartments across from the high school are full of low income families, but they are families (with lots of kids).  I can't speak to what kind of criminal activity they have or have not been involved in, but my guess is that it's about the same percentage you'd find in any of Anna's other neighborhoods.

The empty lots will most likely eventually fill up, just a matter of how long.  A lot of us are in that spot.

Hope this helps :)

Family Guy, Northpointe is the one right across from Tara Farms, Sweetwater is the cut through one.  But both those as well as Meadow Ridge have been big dumping sites.  And the police have been great at keeping that to a minimum!

Thanks for all the input and help.  The house we were going to buy got purchased.  Have a feeling it will become another rental.  Just what the neighborhood needed to help property values.   We met so many nice people in this subdivision.  If anyone knows of someone selling a home by owner plz let me know.  Not much listed on MLS at or under $100K that isn't a short sale or foreclosure.  Back to the drawing board.  :-\

On short sales and foreclosures, you may be able to get the seller to through in a home warranty. That might allay some of your fears of getting a bad house. Good luck in your search.
