Attempted burglary of house and burglary of vehicle
« on: February 02, 2010, 06:28:04 PM »
My neighbor just informed me that his truck was broken into last night and whoever broke into it tried to break into his house too. They bent the front screen and tried getting in through the back windows. He said they took about $500 worth of stuff out of his truck. I did notice that the street lights were out (both of them) and that the street was very dark. I called GCEC to report the lights but the lights seem to work one night and then not the next. He did call and report the incident to the police. I will keep my eyes open for anything unusual.

What is going on in this town?  I still don't think we have a high crime rate, but this is all a little unsettling.

Are we just hearing about it more because of this forum?

I know that last summer a neighbor had his truck stolen and it turned out to be another neighbor's boyfriend that stole it in order to steal a big screen tv from someone else's house.  The girlfriend turned him in.  They found tons of stuff in the house, apparently career criminal.  So he's in jail.  Then our trailer was stolen and a week later someone tried to break in.  And all of the stuff that's happened in the past few months.

If the amount of crime isn't increaing, then the severity of crime certainly seems like it is.

Someone we know who works for another police department closer to Dallas has told us that, due to the economy, theft and burglary are on the rise and they are traveling out of the metroplex to hit small towns where residents are less guarded. Makes sense. Time to check the doors and locks.

I am concerned that the police never let us know what is going on. I hardly ever see the police patroling our neighborhood.

I see them all the time in my subdivision. Days, nights, weekends, holidays.  Trash-day.  Recycle-day.  When I leave in the morning, and when I come home in the evening.  My wife and I walk around the neighborhood most days and see them.

Its comforting.

I've been meaning to test my recent semi-automatic xmas presents.

just think of it this way...... when your next of kin and I are in court (cuz you theives will be dead and picked up with a sponge and plastic bags).... who is the judge gonna take sides to?

the family of some criminal(s) stealing and trespassing, or a highly decorated servicemember defending his assets?

Hell.... the jury will probably be impressed with the accuracy of my 1-shot kill....

near the intersection of Post Oak Trail and Willow Way. Right where both street lights are burned out. It seems the street lights burn out quickly around here and I am always calling GCEC to come out and fix the darn things.
