Had two trucks broken into last night. also heard that a truck down the street was stolen. (Post Oak Trail)

Just some information on this incident, the truck that was stolen was recovered in Denison this afternoon.  This is probably not going to be the work of our local juveniles but instead a crew of outsiders working the area.  We ask for your assistance, if you see something out of place or someone acting suspicious, please call the police department so that the subjects can be checked out.  Just remember you are our eyes and ears, even though we work in Anna we don't know everyone and you as residents know if something or someone is out of place!!

Thanks,

Officer John Dragoo
Anna Police Department

I live in Oak Hollow and have a habit of getting up in the early morning hours so from now on I'll make it a point to peek outside and see if there are any strange cars in the neighborhood. Let's make this the LAST time some out-of-town punks mess with us!

Thanks for the heads up, Officer Dragoo!

Sorry to hear about your vehicles being stolen and broken into.

Use your garage to park your vehicles in. Invest in an alarm system, if plan to park your vehicles in front of your house. I know we all like to think we live in a small town, but this town has grown. With that growth has come more traffic and crime. Criminals look for the easy targets, with your vehicles parked in front of your house, dimly lit streets, and no alarm. To crooks your vehicle has a big red ribbon on it just waiting to taken or broken into. With your lack of vigilance, ignorance, or just plain complantancy is why your vehicles are broken into or gone.

Next someone is gonna call the police with, your garage door is open overnight. Now your stuff is gone in it. Just smack yourself in the face you moron.

While your at it, put your key to your house under your doormat, rock, or plant by your front door too. So they can come back and rob your house.

Sorry to hear about your trucks being broken into. I look down most street in Anna, people park on the street, and drivers have to weave in and around vehicles due to lanes being narrow in the neighborhoods. Someday a kid is gonna get run over from not being able to see down the street.

Not sure if there is a city codes on vehicles parking on the street. I have seen in Mckinney, they do ticket vehicles that are facing the wrong way on the street, and pulling up on the sidewalk to park to keep vehicle off the street.

I dont think having your car parked in your own driveway is asking for someone to break into it.  Thats like saying to a woman, you wore too short of a skirt, you asked to be raped....Yes, one should lock the doors, and how do you know this person didn't?  Bottom line, their car got broken into and they were kindly giving us a heads up.

We have always left our coach lights on at night. I notice that many in OH do not. Honestly, I think it helps to have the driveway lit if your car is parked there.

Also for those of you that have your car programmed to open your garage door, please dont forget to lock not only you inner garage door but the actual garage door itself. It is not hard to go out and pop the lock bar over or you may be lucky enough to have a lock function on your inside opener.  If youhave the lock on your inside opener it will render all of the wireless openers useless til you disengage it but you can still over-ride it with the indoor one in emergency.
