New HOA?
« on: March 06, 2009, 03:04:39 PM »
I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the new HOA. Are the rates going to change? Are the rules any different?

I saw this notice on our HOA website:
**PLEASE NOTE**- Beginning March 2, 2009 Cornerstone Management is no longer the management company for Oak Hollow of Anna. The new Management Company is Essex HOA Management.

i was pretty surprised too.. that we didn't at least get a notice.
i've been calling them all day to ask a few questions and i can't get in touch with anyone.

maybe you guys can answer a ? for me??
i submitted a request to our HOA a while back to paint my garage charcoal to match our door/other features. my request was denied by the HOA, but the other day i saw a resident of oak hollow with a black garage/white trim (at least, in the dark it's black). does anyone think it would be safe to do the same?

The new HOA company got our files just this week.  I don't know if our dues will go up but they can't change them until next year anyway.  I was told they will send out letters in the next week or so letting everyone know who they are.  I am sure the rules will be a little different.  We will have to wait and see I guess.
The reason we have a new HOA is because Ryland sold all their available lots to a builder called Centurion American Development Group (http://centurionamerican.com/comm.html) and they have their own management company.   If I learn any new details I will post them.

sailor,
I would hold off painting the garage.  HOAs are something you don't want to fight with.

I too haven't heard anything.  Thanks for the information.  I hope our rates don't go up but really there would be no reason for it too.

From talking to the new HOA there is going to be a lot of changes. They are a high end HOA. Hopefully no more vans parked in the streets or boats stored in the driveway. And maybe we can get real lucky and have a new pool committee that is not bigoted.

Oh that'd be great to be disallowed to my boat on the property that I own.

If you want to tell me what to park there you can pay for the portion of the mortgage that pays for that part of the land.

I live in Oak Hollow and I am not to sure how i feel about a high end home owners association coming in.  Had one when we lived in Houston and they were a pain at twice the cost.  I doubt seriously that they can tell people not to park on the streets though as nice as that would be.

*Note just wanted to capitalize a few words that I was too lazy to do when I posted from my cell phone.

Do you mean you want a pool committe who lets people just do whatever they want???  I would think you would enjoy getting your pool back.  Of course you may have been one of the ones that didn't follow the rules.  In that case I see how they were "bigoted" towards you.  There were many people who were use to doing what they wanted at the "Community Pool" and didn't care how they affected others.  I am glad the people on the pool committee had the balls to step up and take care of the issues.  We needed someone who could do that since most of us are too scared to say anything.   All they ever did was ask people to follow the rules.  Is that really too much to ask???????

I agree about the pool committee because there was a year or two that we couldn't even go to the pool that is in our own subdivision.  We had to drive to another pool because it was SO out of control yet I still had to pay my dues.  I like the pool committee and thankful that they have cleaned up that area to where we can use it again.  I don't want to dues to go up though because really it isn't justified unless they bring in life guards and spruce up the pool....

I totally agree that unless they do hire someone or add to the pool it isn't worth it.  It would be nice if they could hire a pool monitor like they did at my friends community pool in Little Elm.  The monitor was someone they paid to sit at the pool for X amount of time, they had no ties to anyone in the community (I think they were actually from another city) and they acted in the same capacity as a security guard.  Then these people that think the pool committee is unfair would not have any legitimate claims.
I am glad others have seen what the pool committee did for our community.  I know it had to be a tough job since many people had been use to doing whatever they wanted at the pool for several years.

There are 2-3 people on the committee that have had said bad things about ethnicties. That was is not fair to them. And yes we do need an outside person to monitor the pool. How it now works it puts the people on the committee at danger. I am one of the the main people  who called constantly to get the new lock. I want a pool every person in Oak Hollow can enjoy.
