No more Ryland?
« on: August 24, 2008, 12:51:18 AM »
I read that Ryland is now pulling out of our neighborhood.  So does this mean we now get control of our HOA?

Also, Was anyone aware of a meeting with HOA appointing a pool committee?  Was this a closed meeting?  I read about that in the paper also.  I thought meetings like that had to be announce so we all had a chance to attend and have our say.

I am wondering who the undeveloped land will go to now that they have pulled out.

Monster, I am not the authority on this type of thing however it is my understanding that they should make you aware of meetings that are held regarding HOA business.  Maybe contact your management company for more information.

Glo... any input here??

It depends on what type of meeting it was.  Typically only annual meetings require an all out notification.  There are some specific type of activities that would require a homeowner vote which of course would require a meeting with proper notification.  Changes to the by-laws is one of the things that would require a homeowner vote.  I don't think setting up committees would fit that requirement.  But it is in bad form to not give all homeowners a chance to be involved.

I never get notifications of meetins.
My husband spoke to the Ryland sales person and the lots will be sold. At the time there is no buyer. The parking lot is going to be plowed under and made into the model homes lot

As far as meetings go, By law all meetings should be announced regardless if it is a comittee meeting or not. Especially if they are setting up committees. However, Cornerstone management did a lot of things that were actually illegal and violated the home owners of Oak Hollow. A few members of the pool comittee last year pulled a few illegal acts as well. Before anyone asks, yes I do have proof, yes I did talk to the acual board, and yes I did speak to an attorney before I made any of these statements. I think a lot of the issues last year were not so much as some people not following rules, but also the way the head of the pool committee and a few other people handled themselves and tried to force issues that could not be forced! I think that if maybe we work together this year and find out exactly what our legal rights are before we agree to certain things we should be ok!
