Oak Hollow HOA?
« on: January 09, 2012, 07:59:41 AM »
Hi everyone,

We're thinking about moving into Oak Hollow and are wondering if there is a HOA rules listing that someone could refer us to?  Is the HOA in Oak Hollow reasonable?  I know they're generally good, just wanna do some checking before committing.

Thanks!

Dues are around $230 this year and go up 10% every year like clockwork.  The HOA management company is a PITA to deal with if you need something done, but generally if you mow your lawn, put your trash cans away, and skip the cars on blocks in the front yard, they leave you alone.   You get passes to the pool, and they have a small area that can be reserved for parties.

You'll find plenty of vocal folks against the HOA, because of two main reasons.  One:  The company that manages (Essex) it is horrible and very difficult to work with.  They certainly don't have the homeowner's interests at heart.  That stems from reason two:  Our HOA is still controlled by the builder and they hire the management company.  They have a majority of lots (plenty of Oak Hollow is not built out yet), and are also granted 5 votes per lot.  Needless to say we, the homeowners, are in the minority with no recourse what so-ever, yet.  It obviously loaded against the homeowner when we get only one vote per owner and they get 5 votes per empty lot while in Class B status.

2012 will mark the 10th year the HOA has existed, and the year that our "Class B Control Period" is up.  After that, their Class B votes convert to Class A status (same as homeowners), and they still have the majority.  There are plenty of people that want to fire the management company.  The 2012 annual meeting will be an interesting one for sure...

But, anyway.  Here is what you actually asked for:  :)   http://www.oakhollowhoa.com/pdf/CCR's.pdf
