Planting trees
« on: September 18, 2008, 01:59:06 PM »
Hopefully, this won't come off as dumb, but I was wondering if anyone knew/had experience with the HOA and if there was an issue planting trees?  I don't know if I'm supposed to get prior approval if they are planted at the proper distance from the street, etc, and they are types of trees that others have in the neighborhood?  I've read the HOA agreement and I can't tell if approval only applies if major landscaping changes or everything?  Anything you know is appreciated!

I do know that the city subdivision code says that you can not plant them between the sidewalk and the curb.  Outside of that I am not much help, sorry.

Maybe you can email someone on your HOA board or call your management company.  Better safe than sorry if you are investing a significant amount of money in a larger tree.

We pulled out the tree that Ryland provided because it was wasp infected.  We planted whatever tree we wanted up front and they never said a word.  I think you just have to have a tree in your yard but I don't think they care what kind.

Please also remember to call the utilities companies before you dig. They will come out and spray marks to show you where lines are buried.
Ask me how I can help you feel your best.

When I asked when we built they said just be sure to take the root spread into consideration. Trees like willows that have shallow and wide spread roots can mess up plumbing, electric lines ect. They said to try to go for straight root type trees. Other then that, they told us there were no restrictions.
