Strange Man at Pool
« on: August 26, 2011, 08:56:58 PM »
Today at pool, there was a black man, between 30-40 years old with a heavy accent hanging around the pool.  He was wanting to be let in to  get water for his water bottle.  Someone said he was there earlier in the day too.  The cops were called the second time but we left after 15 minutes and the cop still hadn't showed up. Someone gave him water and then he just hung out in the parking lot.
Just be aware of this and call the cops if you see him there.  He shouldn't be hanging around an area that is mostly women and their children.
Just wanted to warn you all.

We've seen this person a handful of times.  Once, a bunch of early/late teen girls were in the kiddie pool and this guy sat on the outside bench staring.  Once they left he left (opposite ways if it means anything).  I'm male and last time I took my son to the pool we were the only 2 people at the pool (no females) from 8pm 9:00pm.  This same guy shows up, sits on the bench outside for maybe 30 seconds and walked South down Oak Hollow Rd.  Each time he walks South down Oak Hollow rd and other neighbors from the pool say the same thing.  I think it's weird that (especially after dark) we have people walking to the pool, hanging around outside, and not actually entering the pool.

Could this be an "outsider" coming from one of the truck stops during breaks?  Also, there is nothing awesome about this.  Maybe there is nothing to worry about at all, but I've got kids and my wife doesn't feel comfortable when this person comes to stare.  We should probably post something that is meaningful to the community instead of tying to fill in one liners and add to our # of posts.  I've done my share but this is kinda sensitive.  Just my 2 cents.....

Neighborhood watch in the pool area? Police there once in a while?
I think the best bet would be someone in the houses that are adjacent to the pool to look for this guy. Sounds weird.

Maybe knock on a few doors there and talk to the residents?

Easy for me to say since I'm not there.

The guy was there again tonight.  Talked to Security guard and he said the guy is harmless and I asked if he was homeless or what his deal was and the Security guard said he is not homeless that he knows most of his story but would not tell me what the guys deal is.  Apparently one of the residents bought this guy lunch today.   We were there for two hours and he left for a few mins and than was back sitting on the bench as we were leaving.  VERY CREEPY that he just sits there writing in a notepad and just staring,   If I see one of the cops come through the neighborhood I am going to mention it to them so they can keep a watch out for him.   This guy needs to know that he is not welcome and that he is making many people uncomfortable.

The cops are aware of this.  They were called again early this evening.  Not sure if they made it out there.  They said by the time they made it out yesterday he was gone.  The security guard should be doing something about it.  Isn't that why he is there?

This man is harmless. I have spoke with him several times & he does live in Oak Hollow. He comes to the pool nearly every day to read his bible & to get out of his house. I agree that it was strange at first but since he is not from this country, he doesn't do very well with the inside air conditioning. I too have given him bottled water to drink & I'm not sure if he goes home to eat. He has a very thick accent & is hard to understand when he starts talking fast. I don't think he means to scare anyone. Maybe before too long the heat will subside & he will stay at home more.

A guy by himself hanging out at the pool is creepy, weird, pervy, etc.  Is that better?

Accusing me of post count posting!?  Now that's just wrong!  I hope he stares at your butt next time you go to the pool.

How could he be staring at people while he's reading his bible? How could he be reading his bible while he's starting at people?
How does he vanish so quickly?
Why does he live in OH but no one knows him?
I smell a Poltergeist!  ;)

Depending on where he's from the A/C thing makes perfect sense.  Thanks for the post.

This man seems weird. He's from another country & he's not used to our customs. He does "stay" in Oak Hollow at the two story red brick home on the corner of Sycamore and Pin Oak (as a guest) with some of his extended family members.  And does hang around the pool and stare, and also reads.

We should tell him when he's being creepy. Also, let him know that he shouldn't be at the pool without a blue bracelet AND a homeowner chaperone wearing an orange bracelet.

If that doesn't help, police should be called.

Just being creepy isn't against the law, though sometimes it seems like it should be.  :)
