Trying to buy on Burl...
« on: May 13, 2011, 10:05:02 AM »
Hey Group....
My wife and I are in the process of trying to buy the vacant house on Burl.  Inspection is on Tuesday, wish us luck!  If all goes well, you should have new neighbors in mid/late June.

I've been checking out the forum, I'm looking forward to all the "driveway social activities"  ;)

Inspection went as expected.

Now on the the ever so efficient process of buying a house from the government.

Hope to see you in a month or so.

I bought my first house through the VA.  Went way more smoothly than I anticipated.  Maybe yours will too?

I hope so.

This house is a HUD case, and apparently they are overrun with properties.

My agent said that the last HUD house they did took 90 days, but this one seems to be going more smoothly so far.

We shall see.....

FordDr...Was it a forclosure and did you have to bid on the house?  Keep us posted on how it all goes.  I always wondered how that works.

It was a foreclosure.  Being a HUD case, that means it was a foreclosure on an FHA loan.  We did bid on the house, through our agent.  After our bid was accepted, it works much the same as a conventional closing, except some of the paperwork is different.  Many more signatures on redundant and silly forms.  And they go all over the place.  Some to Florida, some to Addison, some elsewhere.  Makes a realtor earn their money.

FordDr's wife here.  Thanks for the warm welcome!  We are still in-process.  No closing date yet.  Lots of inspections/appraisals/etc done.  We are ready to move in, but I think it might be a little bit yet.

Ok, looks like we're closing next Wednesday.  Paint and appliances first, then we'll move in.  See y'all next week.
