Yard Erosion
« on: August 01, 2008, 10:32:33 AM »
Is anyone on a hill?  What is happening with your fences?  Are they staying put or is the yard eroding?  We have no one behind us and our yard seems to be landing in the empty lot.  Any suggestions.  We have no retaining wall because that was coming when the "other" builder put a house on the lot.  Then...they were gone!   ??? ??? ???

We are pretty lucky (so far) on Burl Ln, since we are not on a steep incline. We've just been here a year, and we have not had any of our backyard slide. Our fence seems fine right now, too. How long has yours been up?

P.S. I did see Southwest Erosion Control driving through the neighborhood a few days ago. I don't know if that was just to appraise the work needed to keep erosion out of the streets, though.

I need to put some kind of support behind my fence too. Every time we run our water sprinklers the crevices get deeper.

The builder is responsible for this.... it sucks but it is true.

Even if the builder was still there I doubt they would do much for you if it wasn't addressed in the first year.  Always depends on the builder and how good you are at fighting with them of coarse..

Gosh, that is awful.  I will ask my boss if she knows of anything that you can do as far as retribution.  Thank God for the 10 year structural warranty on your foundation but it seems like there has to be some sort of requirement as far as your homes.  It's not like either of those builders went out of business, they just left your community...

We are just getting ready to have work done for 1st year problems, so we will have them check out the fence, too.

L, I'll tell you what they say!

I have to call them, our 1st year ends the end of Aug. Guess I had better get on that.
