A blast from the past
« on: July 02, 2010, 09:23:20 PM »
I was in the attic looking thru an old tub of "things I'll find a use for one day" and I ran across this old switch (connects two computers to a single mouse/keyboard/monitor).  I had to laugh when I saw the "Y2K - Year 2000 Compliant" label!

I bought one a couple of weeks ago for $60 at Fry's.

Yours probably isn't Y2K compliant or else it would have cost you like $160 or something...   :D

So this one has DB style monitor connector & circular keyboard/mouse connections.  Probably not worth much to anyone these days.

I actually used one like that for a while to hook up my work laptop to my setup in the office, before I got rid of the set up in the office.  Doubt mine was Y2K complaint.  It was a cheap-O piece from monoprice or something.  It did work good though.  Like everything else I have bought from them, it did work really well.

It was a joke, Chili.  People were taking bricks and painting "Y2K compliant" on them and they were selling better than the ones without it.

Oh I remember  those days well.  People thought gas stations wouldn't pump gas, everyone would run out of water, and banks would forget they had our money.  Then 1.1.2000 hit and the sun came up and everything was cool.  At least Fred's KVM switch worked.
