For the Gamers: What are you into right now?
« on: July 21, 2010, 07:16:46 PM »
I'm completely addicted to Red Dead Redemption on Xbox right now.  Last week was Crackdown 2.

As a penalty killer, I hop on Facebook poker.  Annoying, yet addicting in it's own right.

Yep.  My wife logs about 3 hours a day on spider solitaire.  Spades counts!

Lately all I've been playing is this game where I take pieces of wood and reduce the total volume of the wood (either a lot or a little at time) using something sharp (and usually loud.)

Once I've reduced a particular number of pieces of wood in particular ways, I'll then reattach them with glue and mechanical fastening devices - in a particular way.

I get quite a bit of satisfaction playing this game, and it has thus far resulted in earning me pieces of furniture as a reward.  I will warn you though, it takes a fair bit of specialized equipment to play.

Oh, I also play this game where you and a bunch of friends go out to a field and compete against another group of folks.

This is fun too,  but has so far proven extremely difficult to win (for a variety of reasons.)

My son has two friends we allow to stay the weekend - sometimes one at a time, other times both, and I've set up a LAN of 4 computers where we play in order of most played thorough least played, rotating between RTS & FPS:

UT2004
Age of Empires III: Asian Dynasties
UT2003
Warcraft III
Star Wars II: Jedi Outcast
StarCraft

Here recently they've been wanting us to spend all weekend playing an RPG (either Diablo II or Dungeon Siege) but to date that hasn't really happened.  One on one we do good with that, but collectively they get too antsy and stop paying attention.

I also play Bejeweled Blitz both on Facebook and my iPod Touch and the equally fun $5.00 knock-off game (at Half-Price Books) Jewel Quest II.

I play a similar game called, My Life!  Its a race against the clock game!  Remember that Electronics Arts game, The Sims? Its almost *exactly* like that, but you Live-Action Role Play it!   First, you set a starting point, then BAM!  When the "alarm" goes off, you have about 18-hours to accomplish a whole host of tasks before...tick, tock - TIME'S UP!  And just like the video game, you have to make sure your character eats & poops before its too late or embarrassing things (and sometimes hilarity) ensues.  It way too complex to get into now, and its mostly fun, but you have to have a real fortitude to play it.  Winning is pretty easy though, cause most everyone else sucks really bad at it - which can be really funny!

Sandlotgames.com has a free game each week.  I'm completely addicted to whatever it is that week.

I've studied this game - it seems no matter what level you attain that it is ultimately unwinnable.  Your guy always dies and there aren't even any continues.

I tried to get into Fallout 3 and couldn't.

Shadow Complex is a great arcade game.  Lots of fun and for such a small game, there is a ton of stuff to do.

I also find games on sale, they end up piling up, and then I feel like I have to play them.  So I sell them and keep playing the major titles.
