I got the geek cred back
« on: December 10, 2007, 01:34:27 PM »
Yesterday, on my way back from my manicure / pedicure session, I was behind a red PT Cruiser type of car. It may even have been a Chevy HHR.
This car had a personalized plate that started me giggling.

The plate read: FF0000

So. Do I have my cred back?

Only if you know the HTML color that it stands for - WITHOUT doing an internet search.

Huh.  I didn't get it until the end.  Very funny.

I thought it was a Class-A subnet mask on a very restrictive set of routes.

My old man has a binary blanket that spells out "blanket" in binary.  Sadly, I'm not joking.

He also has a binary clock.  I call it the Christmas Light Clock.

Since that is my specialty:

FF0000 = the color red in web page code.
127.0.0.1 = computer network address for "home"
binary = a series of 1s and 0s that can be used to spell out words. but it can take a lot of 1s and 0s to spell a single word or a single number.

Does that help, or did I just confuse you even more?

There's no place like 127.0.0.1!
