Mail on the Mac
« on: November 30, 2007, 12:44:27 PM »
I seem to be having difficulty sending email from my mac. I can receive just fine.
I went into the network utilities and pinged the outgoing server, no errors.
But when I go to send an email from either Thunderbird or from Mail (the resident program) I get an error that it can not connect to the server.

I reset the outgoing server. I removed and reinstated the account in both programs.

Again, I can receive, but I can send. The only thing I haven't done (yet) is check to see if it will work while hooked up at home or with a wireless connection as opposed to the Verizon card.

Any ideas or advice?

check the security settings for the account.  Some email providers require a different kind of security connection to send than when you receive.  Is there  a log you can look at to get the specifics on the error?

Switch to Entourage and they probably blocked Port 25.
