Currently we have 2 blackberries with T-Mobile.  $86/month for cell service and text.  No data.

That's after a 20% discount through work.

So... we are both wanting to get phones with data plans.   But.. I am too cheap to pay $30 extra per phone, per month.  It looks like the cheapest we have found is iphone, with 200Mb/month for $15 per phone, per month.

With the lowest phone plan (we don't talk to people much) and 1,500 texts, and the 200Mb/month data, it's around $110 or $115 per month.  On top of that I get a 19% discount through work. 

Anyone have a better deal you have found?

I did a lot of research when I got new smart phones back in April.

Best deal I found was Sprint.

$129.99/mo for Unlimited text, Unlimited Data, and Unlimited mobile to mobile (any network), also free nights and weekends.  Plan includes 1500mins for other calls but that is more than enough since those minutes only count toward landlines.  This includes two phones on my plan.

I also get a 25% discount through my work on the service.  so after adding in $7/mo/phone for the total equipment protection and taxes my normal bill is about $128.



oh and I've found Sprint's customer service a pleasure to deal with so far.

dang.  that's so expensive!!!  (like i said, im cheap)  and we don't use any data now, so every once in a while to look up a movie time or directions etc, and a few random FB updates is all we need.

My blackberry is tied to my wi-fi as home (as is my neighbor's iPhone to his) so we basically stop using 3G data the moment we pull into our driveways.

Don't know about you but that's where most of my app usage comes from - home.

both of us are on wi-fi here at home, for phone calls.  no data plan at all for either phone.

maybe i should just get a pager.  those still available?

My iphone is the best phone I have ever had. It's worth every penny. It's like having my computer in my pocket!

I can't find my blog entry on it, but Best Buy tried to sell me an "Instinct" smart phone (I think it was a Samsung) and it was the most ill-named device I've ever picked up.

iPhone OS 3.X & OS 4.0 are both *actual* computers.

I have an iPod Touch I use solely for that purpose - mobile computing.

We actually joined on to my mother's plan and we all slipt the bill.  We have unlimited data and messaging, and our portion is $60.  It's really helped us.
