According to Sergeant Jeff Caponera, “information obtained through the investigation provided enough probable cause to believe Bowen was responsible for the shooting.” Three arrest warrants were obtained: one for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, $50,000 bond, and two for Deadly Conduct, $25,000 bond for each. When asked what lead to Bowen’s arrest, Sergeant Caponera stated that “through our investigation we developed leads giving us probable cause to arrest this individual.”
Since the case continues to be under investigation, Sergeant Caponera could not comment further. In the early hours of Labor Day morning sounds of gunfire woke a number of residents in The Falls subdivision. Collin County dispatchers received several 911 calls from area residents reporting gunshots and at 2:09 am Anna police officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of Penton Linn Drive
A female resident reported that she saw a black male standing in her garage when she went to close it for the night. She immediately alerted her husband, who accompanied by a visiting neighbor went outside to investigate. As they were checking the perimeter of the home, he husband could hear dogs barking at home two doors down. As they approached the home, a black male emerged from between the two homes and opened fire with a handgun. As the suspect fled, the homeowner gave chase.
During the foot chase the homeowner reported that the suspect fired two to three more shots at him. The chase ended at the corner of Niagara Falls Drive and Stanley Falls drive, when the homeowner tackled the suspect. The two became involved in a fight, but the suspect escaped and ran to a Ford Explorer that was parked on Niagara Falls and sped away.
