Attn HOA - Letter of meeting and proposed changes to FM 455
« on: April 07, 2010, 01:59:15 PM »
So, I got the notice of HOA meeting in the mail today, and saw that there is a proposal for widening FM 455.  The proposal calls for a raised median between the east and west bound traffic, with openings for some subdivions, but none for the Falls.

We were requested to fill out the comment form, expressing our concerns about having to travel further east, U-Turn, then enter from that way.  Only problem is that nobody thought to include the address of where we are supposed to send these things.

So, I looked it up, and thought I would post it so that others would know where to send it.

Send that form to the following address:

Dannenbaum Engineering,
Attn: Danny Everett, P.E.,
4141 Blue Lake Circle, Suite 240,
Dallas, Texas 75244

So, no excuses, folks.  Send in your comments.  Let them know that the Falls needs an entrance too.  There are more homes in the Falls than in Creekside, but Creekside gets an entrance.  Why not the Falls?

Comparing the number of housed in the Falls to Creekside in your letter might be helpful.

Google Maps shows that Creekside has "approximately" 229 lots and the Falls with 313 lots.

(I don't want to guarantee my numbers.  I just did a quick count.)

Creekside officially has 230 lots and 230 homes.

The Falls has 316 Lots and 307 homes.

Thanks Pinball, I hadn't gotten around to filling it out yet, I have been dealing with a VERY sick dog all day.

You honestly didn't think those at RealManage would do a thorough job though, did you?  :P

My suggestion is for them to put an extended break in the median that extends between the Falls entrance and the west entrance to Oak Hollow.  They can put the solid/dashed lines there to make it an official turn lane...

Well, I didnt receive the letter till the afternoon of the 9th, so I went online to txdot.gov and made a comment.  I received an e-mail that my comment "was received within the 10 day limit" so that would have probably been a better option for some.

I didnt really think it would work.

As for not having a dirct entrance for the falls community, it is not too big of a problem.  Sure, coming home from work, or if we need to go to Brookshires I will have to use the Creekside entrance, but it wont add a lot of time either way.  I assumed that the people who live on Creekside drive would be most upset since it will double the traffic on their street.

Now, for the Falls community, I somewhat like the idea that there will be very little traffic coming in and out by our pool and "park" since these are mainly used by our kids.

Glad to hear it. I've almost been read ended countless times waiting to turn left on Live oak in My white truck with turn signal on.( say the color of my truck, because you would think that a big white object that size would be easy to see)  And I know of one wreck so far that someone was hit in the rear waiting to turn..

My wife was one person hit, by ahem...   a big white truck.  She was waiting to make that dreadful left, when a Collin County animal control vehicle hit her at full speed.  He was busy texting and had the nerve to accuse my wife of being at fault.

I have seen 3 kids almost ran over since they were standing on the shoulder to cross the street.  I was waiting to turn, and when the person in a huge hurry came up behind me, they passed me on the shoulder.  The kids ran in front of me to keep from getting hit.  The driver of that truck just kept on rolling, like he did not almost kill 3 teenagers.

Last week, same thing, but an older gentleman on a bicycle, waiting to cross the street into The Falls.

Someone put a cone up on the shoulder one time, and it was crushed almost as soon as it was in place.  Im glad they are going to lower the speed limit after they widen it, but it seems like it should be lowered now, not later.

If you have a death wish by all means walk along, bike along or cross by foot/bike on FM 455 between HWY 75 and HWY 5, I will be sure to put a cross where the accident happens. Its PURE SUICIDE... its like playing Frogger from Atari but in real life.

Speed there is 55 MPH, some drive near 60 MPH.

The way to fix the problem is for Anna pass speed limit change to 35 MPH from Hwy 75 to Hwy 5. Its useless to try to do anything until the speed limit comes down.

If the Texas laws are still the same as they were years ago, an incorporated city can change the speed limits on the State FM's. Providing the city has a population of over 5,000 people. If I'm correct, the City of Anna can decide this.
